But the news makes the play’s performance at the Weesageechak Begins to Dance timely, says playwright January Rogers, given the current anger and betrayal being voiced about pretend Indians, especially such a high profile one.

I loved Babel by R.F. Kuang but was pretty disappointed with this one. The main character is NOT Chinese, as you'll soon find. In Canada and the US, there are plenty of #Pretendians who claim Indigenous ancestry they don't have. Similar but different.I've read a LOT of writers from the Chinese diasporas, many of them second-generation. Most are probably on my #goodreads page. Amy Tan is a good starting point.

If you want to vote in elections to the #Indigenous parliaments of the #Sámi you have to confirm (a) your Sámi identity and (b) Sámi heritage.
Norwegian and Sámi media are currently investigating how people that don't fulfill the (a) and/or (b) criteria take advantage of the trust-based registration system to get voting rights.
When in, they are shown to support fx closing down the Sámi Parliament or mining ventures that threaten Sámi livelihoods.
