  1. @IndyMediaAus
Private Healthcare Providers are simply #Leeches and #Unethical ones at that.

That is not to say that the health workers they employ share the same social guilt. I’d wager most workers do in fact care for patients unlike their #Grifting corporate employers and the #Usurious #Insurance companies.

Making a #Living from providing healthcare services is socially responsible.

    Making a #Profit from healthcare is #Inhuman.

    Ban #ForProfit Health Insurance
Beef up #NotForProfit Health Insurance regulations
Boost #Medicare (also include #Dental cover) for a comprehensive public healthcare system.

  2. The proposal takes aim at the actions of #bar associations & similar professional organizations, not government entities, that investigate alleged #unethical conduct by #lawyers & consider actions such as #disbarment, which involves revoking a #license to practice #law [cuz, yeah, sane humans believe Rudolph Giuliani should still have legal authority /s].

  3. #WillLewis’ tenure has been rocky from the start, marked by layoffs & a failed reorganization plan that led to the departure of former top #editor #SallyBuzbee.

His initial choice to take over for Buzbee, Robert Winnett, withdrew from the job after #ethical questions were raised about both he & Lewis’ actions while working in England. They include paying for info that produced major stories, actions that would be considered #unethical in US #journalism.

  4. Hey everyone, I know both Zain & his wife, Sophia. We all worked together for #SaveOldGrowth & #StopEcocide work here in #BritishColumbia. What's happened to Zain is unjust & I'm asking you all to please read this whole post & sign the #petition. Thanks for your time & help. Please boost for wider reach.

    * Last week, Prime Minister #MarkCarney revealed Lena Metledge Diab will serve as Canada’s new Immigration Minister.

The first thing Diab should do as Minister is bring #ClimateActivist Zain Haq back to Canada by greenlighting his Temporary Residence Permit that has been processing since January.

Zain was deported to Pakistan in January for climate activism that resulted in low-level mischief charges. He’d been living in Canada his entire adult life, and with his Canadian wife, Sophia Papp, since 2023.

Sophia has been given the devastating choice to remain in Canada without her spouse or relocate to #Pakistan , where she doesn’t speak the language and faces significant barriers to her health and wellbeing.

A mere 48 hours before Zain was deported, he and Sophia’s Spousal Sponsorship application was rejected by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) without substantive explanation.

The couple’s lawyer, Randall Cohn, has stated that this eleventh-hour rejection is likely illegal. It also denied Zain and Sophia’s right to procedural fairness, since they didn’t have time to access the appeal process enshrined in the #BillOfRights.

Zain and Sophia’s situation is reminiscent of the #unethical treatment of many #migrants in the U.S.

#IRCC ’s last minute rejection of a young couple’s Sponsorship Application without substantive reason should raise alarm bells for anyone of conscience, but especially for those with a #legal background – and before getting into #politics , Minister Diab was a #lawyer in Halifax. That’s why we have to get Zain’s file on her desk as soon as possible. *

  5. So, I'm (still) looking for work (senior Python backend developer with experience at a lot of other things, if you're curious). And the job postings I'm looking at bear a noticeable difference from the last time I had to actively look for a job a few years back.

I keep seeing stuff that's anywhere between borderline-unethical and inarguably-unethical-bordering-on-illegal.

An example I saw today was for a back-end developer. They didn't outright say it, but I got the impression they're building an "AI" model, or possibly selling training material to those that do. The "must-haves" for the position included wording to the effect of "extensive experience defeating anti-scraping measures".

Twenty years ago, that posting would have been on the dark web; actively working to defeat website operators / content owners protections of their web content? And today, that's just perfectly fine to put in a listing on a major job site?

Have the ethics of my industry slipped into the sewer in the last five years, and I just didn't notice until now?
