...aaaaand the VERY NEXT DAY @PINE64 posts this:

Bravo, Pine people! Bravo! Now I just hope you'll work closely with the @homeassistant people to integrate the two closely. If it does and ends up with more #PineTime level development than #PineCube, then I'm already planning on buying at least 5. :ablobcatattention:

I just hope that this time they add some padding to the retail price and use that extra to help fund necessary development. 🤞

  2. @PINE64 Half squee? I mean, I was seriously hoping this update would announce non-dev pre-orders for the #PinePhonePro, and they're not here yet, but... soon? Can't wait! :D

Serious kudo's to Gaimee for being willing to tackle reverse engineering hardware H264 encoding drivers on the #PineCube! Looking forward to hooking my PineCube up to #HomeAssistant!

Sidenote:Is there any possibility the Pine64 blog might ever adopt a #fediverse commenting plugin? I think you'd get much more interaction...

  3. @MrDers

I just bought a #PineCube to see if it can be hooked up to #HomeAssistant with #MotionEye. Haven't actually tried it yet, but should be a fun experiment!

  4. @PINE64

Hmm... I want 1 x #Pinetime, 1 x #Pinecil and probably around 3 x #Pinecube... just trying to figure out if I should wait for the Pinetime to come back in to stock or do 2 separate orders. 🤔

  5. Hands-On With PineCube: An Open IP Camera Begging for Better Kernel Support - When the PineCube was announced by the Pine64 project in 2020, it created a fair b... - hackaday.com/2021/04/22/hands- #hackadaycolumns #allwinner #ipcamera #pinecube #reviews #pine64 #sochip #s3

"I am going to use it [#pinecube] as a camera in my next live stream"

    Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee! \o/
Super excited to learn more about, let alone SEE, the #pinecube!

  7. @david Yea, that's really the problem. The devices should blend in and be mostly invisible. They're intended to behave like appliances. You don't want cables running everywhere and stuff poking out all over the place. It should be something self contained and virtually invisible until it's needed. That looks perfect. If only the hardware had a little bit more juice.

Ooooohhhhhh! At last! Some @PINE64 #PineCube info! I desperately want to see if this can be easily brought into @homeassistant / #HomeAssistant! There's been so little info about this project, despite cameras in people's homes and environments being so important to have properly #foss for #privacy and #security reasons.

  9. Finally doing something with the @PINE64

  10. Has anyone tried @PINE64 's #PineCube IP camera yet? It sounds like it's basically the same camera as the #PinePhone, but with infrared lights for night vision.

One of my kids desperately wants a camera with night vision to record the critters that come by our place in the night. I love the idea of integrating it with #HomeAssistant so we get notified when there's a critter at the back door. I'm just not sure if the PineCube is quite ready for that yet...

  11. The #PineCube from #Pine64 is actually really nice little camera platform.

I need to get the 3D printer at work up and running so I can print a case for it.

If only there was a good open source NVR. :/

  12. @lupyuen
Oooo.... I want one of these *bad*... 💕

I'm thinking with 8gb of RAM, ethernet, usb3 and soon to have #Debían support this could make a nice little #Yunohost or #HomeAssistant server.

I wonder if the vision vp6 dsp chip paired with a @PINE64 #PineCube could be used for local only face/object recognition in video streams to assist with presence detection? 🤔

So many possibilities... so little time! *excited nerdy whimper*
