Trumpet blowing warning:
Been out to an awards ceremony tonight, collecting this.
The citation that was read out had me crawling up my own arse with embarrassment.Essentially, it’s for the support I gave to officers in the aftermath of the double child murder last year, but it also spoke about other stuff I do to support the force. All of which I am happy to do, but my management are critical of.
Which is why I’m sharing it here, but not with my bosses.

In other news, if you ever wondered what it’s like working as a #MentalHealth #nurse for the #NHS in a #StreetTriage team, check out this screenshot of two messages I received from The Child one night this week.
Mum did indeed get a call.
Fear not, it was a positive outcome.
But #WelcomeToMyWorld. :) -

#Day228 of #365HappyDays : it seems like so long ago now, but this was the view from the training room in Block 9 at #StaffsPolice HQ this afternoon. I delivered training to a group of call takers from the Control Room, caught up with some people I haven’t seen in far too long, and the training was really well received.
I got a lovely email from one of the participants tonight that made me realise this super long day was well worth it.

#Day195 of #365HappyDays : coming out of work a little after 2am after a 10hr shift into -5° #temperature - it hasn’t risen above freezing all day - to find that the sergeant who left 45 minutes before me had de-iced my car windows. It had started to freeze over again, but was considerably less hassle than it would have been. 💙

#Day175 of #365HappyDays : it doesn’t matter the volume or type of jobs that come my way, working with Shift 3 Response is always a pleasure. They’re a good bunch of people, who never fail to make me feel a welcome part of their team - the dispatchers in the ACR included. I had to jump on the radio (an absolute rarity) as my officer was AWOL and just gave our callsign. The dispatcher replied with “*callsign* Good evening Jen, nice to hear your voice”. 🙂

#Day168 of #365HappyDays : due to the nature of my work, assessing people in #MentalHealth crisis who present to #Police, it isn’t often we get #feedback. We swoop in, sort things out and move on. We’re not involved in follow up care after implementing it, and don’t see the person again following that initial #crisis contact.
So this text #today from the PC who called me to the very poorly lady yesterday has properly made my day.

#Day167 of #365HappyDays : I had to park in the compound tonight thanks to a broken gate at the station, so had to leave work and cross a dual carriageway in the dark at 0215hrs on my own and then down a quiet road to the entrance.
With the threats to kill case still ongoing and the person still on bail, I was twitchy about this. I needn’t have been. Elias, one of the PCs, couldn’t get up quick enough to escort me to my car. Supportive colleagues make me happy.

Finished at 4am today, two hours late again and I honestly don’t mind. Made the call to tip out to see someone 30 minutes after our official cut-off time for face-to-face contacts, because sometimes you just have to go with your gut.
Well worth it. Chap was acutely unwell and now we’ve been able to start the process of getting him the support he needs.
I’ll take the late finish.

We have a vacancy at work. We’re looking for a #friendly, #capable and #experienced #Band6 #RMN who is confident in their clinical decision making and not afraid to take a therapeutic risk.
It’s a fantastic role in a great little team. The work is challenging and varied and no two shifts are ever the same. Applications close in 12 days.

Boosts appreciated, thanks. 🙂

#Day46 of #100HappyDays / #365HappyDays was being able to sit down as a whole shift and have #DirtyRefs with this lot tonight. #Shift5 #Hanley got a break together for once just after nights came on.

#Day45 of #100HappyDays / #365HappyDays saw me at police HQ again delivering another session to ACR staff. Again the session was interactive, they were well engaged, and the feedback was really really positive.
Definitely happy with that.

This is a text I received this evening. She went on to say it was “informative and interactive and easy to listen to and take in”.
I’m delighted with this #Feedback. The last thing I want to do is bore people. I’ve been a victim of #DeathByPowerPoint myself and fear inflicting it on others.
It made me happy when I received this text, so it’s my reason for #Day31 of #100HappyDays / #365HappyDays. It’s all about #MentalHealth and #awareness and #PartnershipWorking between #NHS and #police.

Some shifts feel more productive than others and tonight was one where, despite finishing late again, I felt like some really worthwhile #PartnershipWorking was done.
I’m reminded of how important this is, and how much I enjoy sharing knowledge with people who genuinely want to learn.

I’m on leave this week, but I spent the day #today delivering some “awareness sessions” (not allowed to call it #training, don’t ask) at both #Hanley and #HQ. They went well, and I’ve been wanting to do the HQ ones for two years now. Today was the 1st of 5 dates I have booked in. It was well received, the group were engaged, and feedback was good. I’m happy with that, so it counts as #Day3 of my #100HappyDays / #365HappyDays challenge.

Was on my phone working, when an officer reached across the divider and stuck this on my screen. Made my day. I’m leaving it there all shift. 💙
