Hi to anyone with an interest in #Scottish #geology and its history. After decades of amassing a dozen works by #HughMiller, it's time for me to be passing them (i.e. selling!) to other custodians.

Hugh Miller was a 19th century polymath, #stonemason, journalist, #Christian and #palaeontologist. Most importantly he was a superlative observer of geological phenomena, and able to lucidly describe the wonders he saw in rocks/nature.

I don’t think aspiring for a specific occupation like #palaeontologist is seeking a dream. I think you’re driving towards a vision for your career. A dream is fuzzy, unclear and unfocused. A vision is crisp, clear and focused.

Being a #palaeontologist is like an occupational identity to me so it’s not like just a job. Being a lecturer at this uni or that uni is a job.

#Introduction!

I am a #palaeontologist interested in #marine vertebrates. PhD on #ichthyosaurs.

Currently, I am a researcher in the transdisciplinary project Collecting Norden at the University of Oslo where I study whales in Nordic museum collections and #collection bias.

From May 2023, I will have my own project ECHO at the Natural History Museum in Oslo, on convergent evolution in whales and ichthyosaurs.
