We have had our annual monitoring day today, where we log and photograph the conditions of all of the assets in our care at the Wemyss coast.
Caves, paths (not the Fife Coastal Path) and carvings.
And the weather was mostly wonderful, although the most recent storms have made the paths pretty tricky to navigate in places.

It's tour day on the Wemyss foreshore!
Our tours are fully booked for today, but if you come to our visitor centre on The Haugh in East Wemyss you can visit our wee museum on the caves and other local history.

For Valentine's day, we want to shine a little spotlight on the heart shaped carvings found in Well Cave.
There are a few stories as to the possible meaning behind these hearts - maybe they were declaration of affection carved into stone - but what is pecular are the ones scored out or left to fade. Are these relationships that have fallen apart?
Whatever their story is, they are a fascinating record of life and the use of the cave. -
You probably don’t associate me with the “abstract/modernist” movt. & you’d be right!In reality, this #sculpture celebrates the industrial heritage & local people of Staveley & Hollingwood in NE #Derbyshire, as well as the fact that the #TransPeninneTrail runs right down the side of the #Chesterfield Canal, and is a real thoroughfare for #walkers & #cyclists The support posts still need painting & I will post some pics of the completed work when the sun comes out!

Happy Friday everyone!
@tanjabueltmann was showing off the hashtag #FensterFreitag (Window Friday) and we think this is a cool idea.Of course our caves don't really have windows, but cave mouths are almost like windows, no? This is the entrance to Doo Cave.
The mouth of the cave was shaped, evidenced by toolmarks all over the arched area above the entrance way. Why? We don't actually know. -

We made court cave accessible!Earlier in the year we officially opened the accessible path into the main chamber of court cave with the Fife Disabled Ramblers association.
We would love to show you the caves, regardless of your abilities and the step free path into the cave gets us this little bit closer to our goal.
