As Masons, Freemasons are connected to the use of stone and the stonemasons trade, albeit symbolically today. Two specific stones are used in Masonry, the Rough Ashlar, and the Perfect Ashlar. They symbolise the beginning of a tradesman's work, and the desired outcome of his skill in the Craft.

Each of the three Craft Degrees of Masonry has a set of working tools, explained both as operative tools for the working stonemason, and speculative tools for Freemasons. They are further defined as:
Tools of action, for the first Degree of Entered Apprentice,
Tools of testing, for the second Degree of Fellow Craft,
Tools of creativity, for the third Degree of Master Mason.

Hi to anyone with an interest in #Scottish #geology and its history. After decades of amassing a dozen works by #HughMiller, it's time for me to be passing them (i.e. selling!) to other custodians.
Hugh Miller was a 19th century polymath, #stonemason, journalist, #Christian and #palaeontologist. Most importantly he was a superlative observer of geological phenomena, and able to lucidly describe the wonders he saw in rocks/nature.

Glad you are reclaiming the material. As a life-long, now 70, #StoneMason currently living in a #landscape with zero rocks, your discarded "urbanite" would be VERY welcome here. I got spoiled living in Bloomington IN where I had access to multi-tonnages of precut limestone cheap, 2 cents a pound (sigh). From my files, these two 'urbanite' examples.
PS In a closed system like a planet there is no 'away'.
