In Central Europe they have 1 annual #generation. #Adults and nymphs feed on nectar and various plants in the #herbaceouslayer and prefer warm #habitats. It can cover #longdistances by #flying. According to Y. Zheng et al. (2024), these #flights depend on #temperature and relative #humidity.

Just now I was in the garden, waiting for the laundry to finish, minding my own business and not looking for any bugs at all, when a plant bug (Miridae) (I think, anyway) dropped out of the sky and landed on the table next to me. Two small flies were feeding on it.

Sometimes #FridayFlyDay comes to you, I guess.

Interestinger and interestinger. This is Trilaccus mimeticus (#Hemiptera, #Miridae), a species only described in 2020 in this paper: http://dx.doi.org/10.1163/1876312X-00001012

The paper says, "Trilaccus mimeticus sp. n. is unique amongst Saturniomirini, having sinuate margins and transparent fascia of the corium, giving the mimetic appearance of a wasplike petiole."

Quick shot from last night. I assumed it was going to be an alysiine braconid. #iNaturalist immediately suggested the same thing, so I don't feel so stupid, but it's clearly #Hemiptera.

It resembles #Miridae like #Rayieria but the antennal segments all seem off for that.

Any pointers from #hemipterists out there?
