Ah, yes, nothing solves "kids on screens" like building a retro monstrosity out of 1536 blinding LEDs. 🤯 Because if you can't beat the tech addiction, just blind them into submission. 😎💡

Continuing my Tetragonal Deltohedron project. Added a grounding plane to the edges to allow for soldering the sections together.
-
Next project, a Tetragonal Deltohedron LED polyhedron.
It seems If you are making Art PCBs eventually you make the LED Cube style project.
101 Addressable LEDs per side, 8 sides. running off a XIAO ESP32, Lipo battery inside...
Same shape as my stained glass version https://blog.abluestar.com/projects/2019-illuminated-stained-glass-tetragonal-trapezohedron/
Same methods as the Dodecahedron PCB https://blog.abluestar.com/dodecahedron-pcb-retrospective/

Done first pass and resolved all DRC violation.
Next up is clean up and peer review, then off to the manufactures.
Anyone want to help me with peer review? Open to suggestions, looking for feedback. https://github.com/funvill/pcb-constellation
I started this project thinking it would be a easy 4 hour, one night project. ended up taking 8 hours. The mouse bites took up 4 hours alone.

WIP: Redesigned the edge connectors. Making progress. Still need to add the caps.
-
Wiring up all the edge connectors is harder then I thought it would be. I think its time to go back to the drawing board and find a more elegant way
-
LEDs have been placed and edge connectors are roughed in.
I am going to change the edge connectors to corner connectors
-
Next up is placing the LEDs and wiring everything together.

Lining up a new project for this year's Wooly Fair in Providence, which will likely be a massive (8' tall?) pixelated lamb where each pixel is a discrete LED panel (3"x3" or so), perhaps touch-sensitive for color changing. This should be a fun one!
