CW: Journalism ethics: Requests to review drafts
Hard no, and I don’t know any reporters who would permit it; but it is requested often enough that there is evidently a widespread belief that it is a normal practice.
Our local sheriff-elect was genuinely surprised when I said no to this request recently (and he turned down an interview request because of it).

Continuing that slow drip of stuff I wrote this year...
The anti-corporate/anti-globalization facets I glimpsed in researching the anti-apartheid movement are something that I wish I'd had more time to work with. I analyzed them in a journal article I wrote on corporate codes of conduct in South Africa, but then I was able to offer a summary of that for Jacobin earlier this year.

Continuing the slow rollout of my #publications from this year, this one from the Los Angeles Times was about #divestment during the anti-#apartheid movement and its significance today. I wrote it because there are a lot of misconceptions in the public sphere about it.
I think it mostly got traction because Bill McKibben liked it (unsurprisingly, we seem to agree with each other on these issues) and gave me a little boost back on #twitter.

Rather than doing a thread of all of my #publications from this year like I used to do on #Twitter, instead I think I'll do a slow roll-out over the coming days and weeks.
This was a profile I wrote of NAICCO's food truck in Columbus, #Ohio. I wanted to understand how food helps us to understand the lived reality of many indigenous peoples in the U.S.: most live in urban, intertribal settings. The food NAICCO serves highlights that.

I hope this situation doesn’t devolve into ego feuds. Considering that the Republicans and Trump are going to lie like rugs when the GOP takes the House, it’s imperative that the report be as comprehensive and wide-ranging as possible AND that Mainstream #media outlets have experts cover and analyze it in detail. Thinking about the blue bird’s future:
Many on Twitter (and other soc media sites) are there to promote a "brand." For financial or narcissistic reasons they may be reluctant to leave their base behind and move to a new platform. Given the deliberate lack of an algorithm to promote topics and stroke egos here, what would coax the major accounts to migrate? Does it matter if they do? -
