The apparent collapse of masthead dot social, which supposedly had over 30,000 accounts, makes me wonder if there could be an instance-independent way for folks to automatically and regularly back up their accounts locally and restore/switch instances from those backups. Like through one of the apps? No idea what the technical challenges involved are. But the fact that your account can just vanish if your server host goofs up or gives up is an ongoing problem. #masthead #mastheadsocial

Just saying: The bird site is feeling less and less worth it by the day. They have now "permanently suspended" my preferred third-party app for no reason anyone knows. Maybe this is nitpicking, but permanent suspension is an oxymoron; if one is permanently suspended, isn't that just a ban by another name? Anyway, the bird site isn't even that much fun to read anymore. I become more and more a #Masthead with each passing day.
