Of all the movies covered during the Lina Romay Month at B-Movie Enema, the by far weirdest was this 1975 erotic sci-fi thriller called Shining Sex. I'm still not sure I know exactly what it was all about.

While he does have some clunkers in his filmography, it's no secret that I'm a fan of Mr. Jesus (Jess) Franco. Perhaps the very best his movies is The Diabolical Dr. Z which is a heck of a moody, well-shot, and very peculiar horror thriller from the mid-60s.

Death Whistles the Blues is a very early film (1964) by notorious Spanish director Jess Franco and for those who are only familiar with his later output this one will come as a surprise. It’s a technically well made movie that demonstrates that Franco was quite capable of making conventional movies with conventional narratives.
And it's a film noir. A pretty good jazz-fueled film noir.

She Killed in Ecstasy (1971), perhaps as close as Jess Franco got to a relatively straightforward non-supernatural horror film.
Soledad Miranda stars so there's plenty of steamy eroticism.
Franco was fascinated by the awesome power of female sexuality but this time he is dealing with the even more awesome power of female love, especially when it turns to hate.
