  1. My tendency to use multiple desktops extensively, tabs in #iterm #neovim as a multiplexer, multiple iterm instances, multiple neovim instances in those iterm instances, tabs in browsers and multiple browser windows means my desktop is even messier than my real life one, and I frequently have the same web page or file open in three places that I've forgotten and then lost.

I uh... need a better strategy here.

Either that, or I accept that my use of computers reflects my #adhd.

  6. I’m not sure why fucks up the sessions and the key codes every now and then. This is suppose to be Ctrl-x for exiting Nano/Pico on MacOs. If i restart the terminal/session it would work ok. anyone else experiencing the same?

  10. Anyone know what determines if zsh closes the window or shows "zsh: do you wish to see all 3867 possibilities (1934 lines)?" when one hits Control + D on a macbook (in iTerm)?

I can't really see any pattern, but it printing the later is sometimes is quite annoying...

  15. switching from #iTerm to #ghostty - night and day difference in latency. iTerm has become too bloated. Or I am doing it wrong. In any case, I don't think I am going back.

Config is a bit of a hassle (env text file) but there is not too much to configure. I had to set copy-on-select = clipboard (what it says) and shell-integration-features = ssh-env to be able to run tmux on remote servers but that's it.

  29. #iTerm sure dives into feature creep, although to give it justice, new major features are optional, require enablement and often additional installation steps.

Recently it was integration with GenAI, in times where many apps integrated with ChatGPT API (by default or exclusively due to brand popularity) it did follow the trend. It sparked outrage by privacy advocates and thus turned entirely optional.

Now it's using embedded Web browsing so you don't have to leave your console window. It's quite comfortable when you don't have many screens. But perhaps the reason to implement that are comedy gold, citing the author: "A former colleague suggested this idea in 2014 and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. - I am maybe having a midlife crisis and this is cheaper than a sports car." <-- and yes I can relate :mastozany:

  30. The new #iTerm update now includes a full web browser!

It's a terminal; don't change for the sake of change. It was fine as it was.

    Another one for enshittification..

  35. Dear #iTerm,

    I don't want a web browser.
I don't want an AI chat.
I want a simple terminal application.

    Best regards,

    literally everyone
