Schön, #Volkswagen wieder mit nem richtigen Shit-Move: Ich konnte bist gestern die Daten meiner Autos schön über die API auslesen: Verbauch, Kilometerstand, Tankfüllung, Standort, usw. Alles schön im #homeassistant. Jetzt war mein Auth-Token abgelaufen. Normalerweise kein Problem. Neu anmelden, alles schick. Tja, VW (und Skoda und co) wollen jetzt Geld für den API Zugang.... take this: 🖕

Another seller in my inbox this morning, seems to be shifting from selling partner's brands to making their own copy-cat's. Is it cynical of me to see this as a step down the road to enshitification? Or? Like, hey, we're a good place to bring together a million brands of product X. You can choose from all of them. Now we make our own too.

Its like Amazon. They now make their own brand for lots of the common goods they used to sell for 3rd parties. Presumably so they can make 100% of the profit. If i were a seller on their marketplace, and they started selling their brand of my product, i think id be pretty angry.

Just went to a local café that used to have 3 tables and a male and female bathroom.

They now renovated and have 7 tables, and one "gender neutral" bathroom that locks.

I'd say this is a rare example of market and cultural forces making a place strictly better than it used to be. Like a reverse #enshitification.

I've recently learnt that:
- Google does not validate emails when setting account recovery addresses.
- Microsoft does not validate emails when creating accounts, and does not require a password to log in or cancel the account.
So you're probably one typo away from losing your digital life, because Big Tech does not have the expertise to get basic security right.

Today in #enshitification, the news website of a local tv station asks me to press and hold a button while a progress bar fills the button, just to prove I’m not a #robot. Holding my finger down like that seems like something only a robot would do.

In the last 6 months I've had both the stove and my dryer die on me. The dryer was a rehomed item from a family member but the oven was NOT old.

When the oven died I tried to get it repaired. That was a waste of money, things are so digital now good luck repairing. Even the tech told me that appliances are commodity items now. Man the landfill waste is depressing.

I've started keeping a $2,500 savings account topped up to self-insure because man appliances suck these days.
