I have been using #ghostty for a while on Ubuntu 26.04 and the experience has been pleasant. But I've had nothing but pain with the defaults and default configuration of ghostty on macOS trying to access and work with remote Ubuntu servers. 'xterm-ghostty' is not recognized anywhere and needs fixing via the shell-integration feature and then it still doesn't work with 'sudo $EDITOR'. Instead of providing keybindings that work on all OSes, ghostty provides macOS-specific overrides causing pain 😞

#ghostty has an +ssh command and I am absolutely amazed at this. 😁 Sure. I could add to ssh config the xterm compatibility. But where I can, using this now does that automagically for me. 😎

I've been hearing good things about #ghostty for the past few months so I decided to give it a quick look.
It took less then 15 minutes to realize @dnkl 's foot terminal is still the best for me. Few main reasons:
* ghostty startup speed noticeably slower than foot (even +new-window when it's running). Foot server + client is pretty much instant
* Input lag feel?
* Memory usage for new ghostty is 2x what foot takes
* (killer) No "hints" mode to open URLs using keyboard (there's RFE though) -

I made a trans pride flag config for my GhosTTY icon (I was looking for another config setting, and found all the custom MacOS icon settings, and went to town. If you're ALSO a GhosTTY user and would like your very own little trans pride icon, here are the settings to put in your settings file:
macos-icon = custom-style
macos-icon-frame = chrome
macos-icon-ghost-color = #F5A9B8
macos-icon-screen-color = #5BCEFA, #5BCEFA, #F5A9B8, #ffffff, #F5A9B8, #5BCEFA, #5BCEFA -

I used an #llm to help write two scripts to supplement #CLIAMP + @navidrome . One converts a terminal pane in my #Ghostty to display the album art , the other pulls in lyrics and syncs the song time —> to highlight the lyrics text like karaoke. It works for #spotify , too.
My favorite part: I can run the script with an [option] to display the artwork in 32-bit. #PSX #playstation one style. 😎

Je continue à tester des solutions pour accéder à ma bibliothèque musicale, 300 Go stockés sur un nuage chez #Infomaniak, auxquels j'accède via le protocole WebDAV depuis mon bureau #Gnome.
Le serveur Navidrome est une chouette solution : lancé comme un service via systemd, il gère bien l'importante collection de fichiers MP3/FLAC. J'y accède via une page web ou au travers de différents clients, en mode graphique ou via un terminal.

GitHub kdysi působil jako přesný opak SourceForge: rychlý, přehledný a přirozený. Dnešní projekt na něm ale často nemá jen kód. Má tam issues, pull requesty, CI, balíčky, bezpečnostní pravidla i AI agenty. Lock-in nevzniká tím, že by nešel odnést Git repozitář, ale tím, že se běžný provoz týmu postupně přesune do jedné platformy.

Should I give #Ghostty a chance? I fired it out of curiosity and let's say I am not a fan of the default solarized color theme. Been using #Kitty for years and it gives me all I need (that is not that much, a light, stable, blazing fast terminal with ligature support). I don't need tabs, splits, etc, since my window manager of choice (sway) takes care of those. But maybe there's a Ghostty feature that is awesome and I'm missing?
