Как решить, что виртуалка больше не нужна

Речь пойдёт про VDI-портал: систему, которая клонирует виртуалки из шаблона, выдаёт их пользователям и гасит простаивающие. Но статья не о нём как о продукте, а об одном вопросе, который на входе выглядит тривиальным: этой машиной ещё пользуются? Ссылка на код будет в конце, одна. Нужен был пул виртуалок под технический отдел. Много. Держать их все включёнными не на чем: одновременно работает хорошо если четверть, а ресурсы гипервизора кончаются сразу и у всех. Первое решение было очевидным — скрипт по таймауту. Никто не подключён N минут — машина гасится. Понадобилась — поднимается. Скрипт я написал за вечер, и он даже работал, но по итогу я изобрёл VDI. Только не так, что посмотрел готовые решения и они меня не устроили, — я вообще не формулировал свою задачу как «нужен VDI» и потому не искал. Я решал «пусть виртуалки сами гасятся», а всё остальное наросло само, вопрос за вопросом. Когда стало очевидно, во что это превратилось, переезжать на готовое было уже и поздно, и незачем. Дальше разбираю вопросы, которые нарастали.

Как дать узлам внутри GNS3 доступ в интернет, не используя встроенный NAT Hyper-V? В этой статье превратим Ubuntu 26.04 в маршрутизатор лабораторного стенда. Настроим NAT, DHCP и DNS только средствами Linux. В результате Alpine получит сетевые параметры по DHCP, выйдет в интернет и мы установим на него клиент OpenSSH. Заодно разберем неочевидную проблему с маршрутом по умолчанию в Windows, из-за которой трафик физического хоста может попасть в петлю. Настраиваем стенд

Продолжение первой статьи цикла, в котором мы собираем полноценный стенд для изучения компьютерных сетей на базе Hyper-V, Ubuntu и GNS3. Ранее мы уже собрали стенд для изучения сетей на Hyper-V. Теперь мы изменим топологию стенда и уйдем от Default Switch в Hyper-V. Затем мы скачаем и настроим шаблон Alpine через Docker, установленный внутри GNS3 VM. Serveur en standalone, 2 Cpu avec 96Gb de ram / cpu, j'ai une VM sur les 4 avec l'information "Etat de la mémoire : Fractionné".
J'ai aucune idée de ce à quoi ça correspond. J'ai pas NUMA activé, et j'ai pas d'idée.
Quelqu'un sait ce que c'est ? (poke @mix pour la peine)

Большинство материалов по Cisco, Linux и GNS3 до сих пор ориентированы на VMware Workstation. В последнее время возникли две проблемы. Во-первых, официальный сайт GNS3 недоступен напрямую с территории РФ, из-за чего скачивание необходимых компонентов превращается в отдельную задачу. Во-вторых, GNS3 рекомендует использовать VMware Workstation, который также недоступен с территории России. В этой статье покажу, как собрать полноценный стенд на компьютере под управлением Windows 11. Мы установим GNS3 и создадим виртуальные машины GNS3 VM и Ubuntu 26.04 LTS в гипервизоре Hyper-V. Talking to my IT guy at work looking for help with a #VMware issue I'm having. Since the broadcom takeover, I've been a bit interested in moving away from VMware. He suggested moving to #HyperV. The thought of having all of our VMs running on a Windows host is just anxiety inducing. As person who would gladly never touch another Microsoft product the rest of my life, the last thing I feel I'd want is to move to hyper-v. The only alternative to #ESXi that I'm aware of is #Proxmox though.

Его можно быстро выпустить, а это важно, ведь ранний релиз может повлиять на показатели первой недели продаж игры. Но за это приходится расплачиваться низкой производительностью, нестабильностью, проблемами с безопасностью и множеством других трудностей. I'm somewhat surprised to have gotten no feedback whatsoever to this post. Is no one running RHEL 9 under Hyper-V? I would've expected that to be a rather common dev env. at companies where the IT org is still living in the last century.

RHEL afficionados, help. Why does my RDP session to RHEL9 (xrdp) under Hyper-V suck compared to using RDP towards RHEL8 (xrdp) under the very same Hyper-V?

By "suck" I mean that in RHEL9 there are very obvious compression artifacts that don't clear up, like if a "final draw" action is never taken. In comparison, all is just awesome and wonderful in RHEL8.

I see the kernel module change from hyperv_fb to hyperv_drmdrmfb but "everyone" says it makes things faster and smoother, and here I am not able to see the difference between certain characters in the terminal sometimes.

Sure, disabling bulk compression in xrdp.ini will remove the artifacts but makes everything dead slow, and it's not needed in the RHEL8 VM so .. you know. wat givs.
