for a decade I used an #HPPrinter that now refuses to work. My wife got an #Epson ET-3850 which refuses to work of my Linux, cups or Gnome (not even printing test pages). I've run flatpak and have the scanner working but can't seem to get the #printer to go. Can I do anything? this is with #Guix.

They tell me it's 2025.

Trump is POTUS and the HP Android app can't find the HP printer on the same WiFi network.

I have an old circuit board from a venerable HP inkjet printer, with a bunch of 1820-6189 which as far as I know was HP’s version of CD74HC4514M. 4/16 line decoder / demultiplexer. If someone in Switzerland wants that send me a message. Maybe I will desolder the capacitors and the black IR sensor for shipping. #retrocomputer #electronics #recycling #HPPrinter #components

Fun fact about me: I’m the kind of person that likes to have one set of ink toner for my printer at-the-ready when the installed pair runs out.

Today I have to buy a pair—1 colour, 1 black cartridge.

Never thought I'd encounter the cursed HP sticker blocking the USB port :ElainaHeh:

Thankfully (or maybe not considering it's still HP, who knows if my printer is gonna "die" after 20 pages or a few days or whatever), I legit grabbed this printer second hand, and I just needed a cheap laser printer with a scan function.

If this doesn't work out, I might just re-sell it and get a Brother printer....heh

Got its final revenge by spilling its last undried out cartridge over my hand as I flung it into the council skip.

Recently completed my first digital artwork. A large sunflower.
Photo below.
Wanted to compare print with tablet view. Used my HP 3050 inkjet, HP Everyday A4 photopaper and HP cartridges.
Managed 3 prints of jpeg file before Yellow ran out.
Installed new cartridges and managed another 10 prints and Yellow ran out again.
(Completed print very good)
Online I see I can expect on average 190 prints from a cartridge.
What's going on?

Does anyone know why HP hasn’t done a simple mod to an inkjet printer & sold a 3D jet printer for $2 or $3k undercutting everyone ön the industry?

For real, don't buy HP Printers in 2022. Driver installation is wonky, tries to trick you to make an useless HP account and might not even work anymore after a reboot.
Ink is pricy but you might get a good deal in 3rd party shops.

This is not only for the cheap ones, but even the middle class.
Don't let me start with Linux support. You better go for driverless printing and not use the "hplip" drivers or tools.

It's a mess and sucks!
