@Noordine started learning clojure over a month ago but has been occupied with other things like editing #FSHM #podcast, learning #statistics, working on the survey about adoption of #FOSS and open access publications in the university.

@tshrinivasan @maniraj translated the central boulevard part of Pondicherry using #iD by creating `name:ta` tags. He focused on streets & public utilities.
https://www.peppercarrot.com/ was created to show off the features of #Krita. It has partial translations in Malayalam, Telugu & Bengali. Two girls showed interest in translating it into Tamil at #FSHM. I will follow up with them once their exams are over.

@tshrinivasan Is there a need for a web based #OCR for #Tamil help automate the efforts of transcribing books?
I made a small OCR using #Tesseract a year or so ago - https://github.com/demonshreder/tamil-reader/
It was done in an effort to automate #FSHM 's efforts to transcribe tamil books.
The problems with my code is that #graphicsmagick uses too much RAM (5-6 GB) to convert #PDF into image.
I stopped coding on it as much progress was made without it.

People keep getting worried about 'scope' of things. I was introduced to #lisps by Paul Graham's writings. Till date he doesn't even mention #clojure which has the power to leverage the #JVM and #Javascript ecosystem.
I think I will host a session clojure at #FSHM soon.
