Our Bluetooth sound panel was getting buggy, so one motivated member rebuilt it from scratch using our electronics stock. The new MuMaLab Control Panel has soldered connections, industrial-grade buttons, a logarithmic fader and a sturdy TRS aux input. No more crackling, no more loose connectors.

Has anyone here used infrared headphones?
(like the kind used by some TVs/car stereos)Or have any schematics/plans/references?
I'm trying to build or acquire a pair (transmitter and receiver), I think I can use a microcontroller for transmit but i don't think that will cut it for receiving the (supposedly) FM signal.
(boost for reach)

I designed a little enclosure for these cheap chinese TPA3116 amplifier boards to add connectors for the inputs and a proper volume knob. The boards cost less than 5€ and can push 100W into a 2Ω speaker which is pretty impressive. I've been using them for years to power various speaker setups just dangling them off wires so it's nice to finally have enclosures for them. #DIYAudio #3dprinting

I fell into a rabbit hole and built a calculator for resistors in an amplifier-to-headphone adapter: https://www.hifilog.com/calculators/resistors-for-amplifier-to-headphone-adapter Just in case someone wants to connect their headphones to the speaker jacks of their amp. #DIYAudio

I recently built a pair of single driver speakers based on the Dayton Audio ND90-8. They sound great in 4 litre bass reflex cabinets, highly recommended! Then I came across this thing on Youtube, where the guy from Print Your Speakers use a close relative of the driver I used, the ND91, to make a 3D printed, modern version of 90s desktop PC/Mac speakers. Super cool project, note the final solution for the bass reflex port: https://youtu.be/9e9ITi_Ngz0 #DIYAudio #speakers #retrocomputing

Pico neo single driver speaker project is done, mounted the drivers today, Dayton Audio ND90s. The speakers sound amazing for the size, precise, roomy bass. Those 32mm bass reflex ports are really moving some air around. They're all that I hoped for in that department. I'm not in love with the vinyl wrap, but it's all right for now. #DIYAudio #audio #speakers #diy

Finishing up my pico neo single driver speakers, 4 litre bass reflex boxes that're supposed to squeeze a decent amount of bass out of a small driver. I'm obsessing over finishes at this point. The veneer on the baffels is fine I guess, though one of the sheets cracked as I was working on it and gave me some grief. Tried out some grey acrylic spray paint after I had primed them, but I wasn't satisfied with neither the adhesion or the look. Went with vinyl wrapping instead, and I'm not feeling it. One of them got a scuff mark in the back and this vinyl turned out to be a fingerprint magnet. Sigh. Guess I'll just finish them as they are now, put the drivers in and see if the sound good, and do a refinish later. #diyaudio #speakers #speakersbox #audiogear

Making speakers again - I love doing this stuff, it's relatively easy, but with endless potential for tweaking and trying out finishes and different looks. Excellent for staying sane in trying times. I'm working on a pair of Pico Neos here, with 8 ohm Dayton ND90 drivers. The enclosures are a 4 L (0.15 cf) bass reflex design. The only available documentation is a 2012 forum post on Parts Express by Chris Roemer, the guy who designed them. Making boxes from MDF here, in the end they'll be covered in vinyl and veneer. #diyaudio #speakers #diy #audio

Update and final thoughts - Refoaming dbPlus 440 Speaker Surrounds
1. Initial ConditionThe dbPlus 440 speakers were in poor condition before the refoaming process. The foam surrounds were cracked, crumbling, and in some areas, entirely missing. The cabinets, while aged, remained structurally sound and only required minor dusting. Notably, extra screw holes were found on the driver mounts, indicating that the drivers had been remounted at some point. Since both speakers were a matched set, it is unclear whether the drivers were replaced during manufacturing or in a later repair. #VintageSpeakers #AudioRestoration #DIYAudio #Audiophile #3dPrinting [1/5]
