  1. The Case Against Climate Doom : An Economist’s Guide to Climate Optimism by Michael Jacob, 2025

By highlighting the social, political and technological progress already made, this open access book presents an optimistic outlook for a transition to a climate-neutral world and successful adaptation to climate change.

  2. Is it possible to mute a hashtag? Let's say I want to follow the #ClimateEmergency, but am constantly distracted by the many people who say there's nothing to be done about it and post the very same graphs to convince me just adding that #ClimateDoom conclusion. 3. World behind on almost every policy required to cut carbon emissions, research finds theguardian.com/environment/20

Worse than humanity being done in by Climate would be wrongly diagnosing a winnable situation as "game over" and having civilization get wiped out by self-fulfilling defeatism.

  5. I appreciate @hankgreen take most of the time, and don't want to promote #climateDoom at all, but a thing I worry about with generally optimistic takes on geo-engineering is the Jevons paradox side of things.

If solar radiation blocking (via sulfur or cloud seeding) becomes accepted, the incentives to reduce greenhouse gas pollution go down significantly as the "cost" of emitting goes down.
