  4. At the recent General Assembly, Julia Kraatz and Martin Pontius were able to take a closer look at how the Roskilde Fjord faces the challenges posed by extreme weather events. Meetings with local stakeholders explored how technology can support municipalities' climate change adaptation (#CCA) plans for a more cohesive, informed, and safer future.

Check out their blog post, in which they share their key insights and observations.

  6. Thrilled to share our latest publication "Visualizing uncertainties in landslide susceptibility modelling using bivariate mapping" nhess.copernicus.org/articles/

    What’s inside:
✅ A new way to jointly visualize susceptibility & uncertainty in landslide prediction
✅ Practical, open-source tools for implementation in R and QGIS

Loved the interdisciplinarity of this project

  7. My spouse found this web service which shows environmental risk factors (flood, fire, wind, heat, air quality) over the next 30 years: firststreet.org/
afaik it is US only. I found the ZIP code view to be the most helpful.

I'll share this with my neighbors & community to help us focus our disaster preparation & climate resilience planning.

  9. RT by @EU_MARE: #BlueEconomy and #DisasterRiskReduction (DRR)

#DRR is crucial to mitigating extreme weather events 🌀⛈️ in coastal communities

We provide data on significant wave height 🌊 and ocean winds 🌬️, helping to prepare for and respond to such events

  11. #Zimbabwe:
"A comprehensive National Adaptation Plan is nearing completion this year. As a result, #adaptation measures are being planned across various sectors, including #agriculture, early warning and #DisasterRiskReduction, #climate-resilient infrastructure, and sustainable #water resources management."

  12. 1980-1989: three billion-dollar events and 297 deaths, costing a total of $19.5 bn per year.
2010-2019: 13 annual events, 523 annual deaths, and $89.2 bn in recovery costs, a fourfold increase.

"A study in 2005 estimated that for every $1 invested in #disaster risk #mitigation, $4 was saved in post-disaster rebuilding efforts. New data in 2019 showed $1 spent on mitigation measures could save $11 post-disaster."
