I'm really pissed off at Communauto/Vrtucar. Until a month or so ago, there was a car on Elm Street at the black X, and now there isn't. Preston/Somerset is now a #carshare desert (red circle).

This is right as my spouse just joined #Communauto and is about to scrap the old clunker and go #carfree.

I asked them about the Elm st car being missing and all they gave was a very generic "we welcome member suggestions for car locations" message. Pfft.

Another day I realize how good is having #EvoCarShare / #ModoCarShare available all around me in #Vancouver, it’s so much more convenient and often cheaper than regular car rentals. Not owning a car was already financially advantageous before but now it’s a no-brainer to go #PublicTransit / #Cycling first and #CarShare as backup.

People talk a lot about about DINKs, we should talk more about DINCs!

I need to go somewhere by car. I open my #carshare app and within minutes I have one. Within 1000m from my house. I go do my errands, and drop it off where I got it. Right next to the parking spot is a #bikeshare station. I hop on a bike using my card that costs me only 50 euros a year. I drive it to the station 100m from my house over safe and wide paths.

#antwerp has its fair share of problems, but man it can be amazing

Except... they don't tell you this anywhere in the activation email, NOR in the login prompt; it solely says that your account is not fully activated, and to "please wait"... :picardfacepalm: 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♀️ :blobfoxfacepalm:

Yes, I know. This is how I retired early. I used transit + a car-sharing service instead of owning my own car for 15+yrs. It saved me >$250k. Combined with my other regular savings, I had enough to stop working in my early 40s. But go ahead and tell me how cool your new car is….

Gig #CarShare rates in Seattle are getting a big increase in a couple of weeks. Hourly rates going up 20%, the 8-hour rate cap is now only valid if prepaid, and included mileage drops from 250 to 100 miles per trip. Disappointing, and in Seattle, there aren’t a lot of alternatives.
