  2. Bus Story, 1943

“Put me down with the people, and it’s just overwhelming."

When American photographer Esther Bubley was 22, she took a 6 week Greyhound bus trip on her own, starting in New York City and ending in Memphis. She was hired by the US Office of War Information (OWI) to document everyday moments during the transition from economic depression to mobilization for WW II, as wartime rationing of gasoline and rubber drove the public to embrace mass transportation

    Location: Spain (Córdoba)
    Year: 1995

"When I was commissioned to design the Cordoba Bus Station Project, a multitude of memories of my first journeys came to mind. Intense memories, typical of the adventure that every journey entails, associated with images of platforms, ticket offices, waiting rooms, canteens for passenger service, the comings and goings of passengers, trains and buses..."

  7. The Parnell Place Bus Station in Cork is lit up from below by pink lighting. It’s a long exposure shot and a vehicle drove past during the shot.

I wanted to get this shot and make sure that the red brick chimney to the far left was visible as it’s the most prominent part of a factory and industrial buildings that used to sit on that block. Some surrounding buildings were demolished in recent years. Apparently, they date from the 1920s.
