Over the past couple of days I've been quietly working on and adding support for a new device (OVERMAX Touch 2.6) to Gadgetbridge... and today I've seen the first tangible results! :ablobfoxbongohyper:

I waited a bit to post anything about it as I wasn't sure if I'd even be able to do it (it is my first BTLE RE project!) but while there's still stuff to be done, I've got to a point where I'm rather confident I can at least reach some basic level of support :neofox_cofe:

The watch itself isn't exactly a popular model iirc, but its companion app is not even available on the Play Store anymore (and it's rather sketchy too if you ask me) so having it supported on @gadgetbridge is already a big plus due to that!

(Btw that's my SO's smartwatch, in fact that's what made me start this project to begin with... and doing something that will help them is more than enough of a reason for me to keep going! :neofox_blep: )

@SomeGadgetGuy So a recent over hyped genetic therapy marketing campaign used fear and propaganda to herd people into accepting that their BTLE must be turned always on (handy over the air update) so that any large organisation with clout and friends in high paces (think OS or mobile phone developer) will be able to track your position even if you have not allowed or even enabled your location services. It will do this without asking or telling you AND it will use you to rat out any devices in your neighbourhood.

I think this should be strictly OPT-IN with a big warning label and a waiting period for ADULTS ONLY instead of the everyone is a tracked snitch policy in place now.

You think that the worthless, expensive, intrusive, rights violating contact tracing apps were the goal, think again. When was the big AirTag campaign launched?

Please share to wireless hackers: Who in the community is doing hacking on fitness trackers, BTLE stuff, radio/wireless, etc? I have an Oura Ring that I had replaced by warranty because the battery life halved suddenly, but it works fine (if with 2-3 days of battery life instead of 5).

@wauz @florian @digitalcourage Okay, ich bin da etwas entspannter. Die Dummheit kam erst durch #Luca, denn die #CWA hat zumindest der dezentralen Speicherung entsprochen.
