In Deutschland haben sich rund um den Chaos Computer Club (CCC) viele Hack- und Makespaces, also Orte in denen Menschen sich mit Technik und ihren Einfluss auf Gesellschaft auseinandersetzen können, gegründet. Der 37. Chaos Communication Congress ist für die Menschen des Chaosdorfs ein freudiges Wiedersehen der ganzen Community gewesen. Diese Freude wurde jedoch getrübt, als wir von der kurzzeitigen Anwesenheit einer Person erfuhren: Jacob Applebaum ist vielen von uns noch ein Begriff, nicht nur wegen seiner Prominenz in der Szene, sondern wegen der bis heute nicht widerlegten Vorwürfe gegen ihn.
Wir, das Awareness-Team des Chaosdorfes, haben daher das Hausverbot verhängt, um unsere Besucher*innen und Member zu schützen. Das Hausverbot gibt ihnen einen Garantie für Sicherheit in unseren Räumlichkeiten und stellt klar, dass wir als Verein belästigendes und übergriffiges Verhalten nicht dulden.
Der Betrieb eines Hackspaces stellt noch einmal eine andere Herausforderung dar, als die Durchführung einer großen Veranstaltung. Daher haben wir uns für diesen Schritt entschieden. Das Hausverbot gilt auf unbestimmte Zeit. Es ist unabhängig von sämtlichen Entscheidungen und Maßnahmen des CCC e.V. getroffen worden.

I wholeheartedly recommend the recent #37C3 talk by the CCC #AwarenessTeam @c3awareness , the CCC's arbitration board and the board of CCC about their work supporting participants and resolving conflicts.
There's translations into English and French and I think it shows that this community has come a long way. I have a _lot_ of respect for everyone doing this work.

Reading about the recent SMTP and SSH vulnerabilities, I get the impression that open source projects, proprietary vendors and government agencies such as @certbund don't know how to talk to each other. They should at least have something like a red phone.
Please comment here if you have a constructive idea on how to improve the situation! #SECconsulting seems to assume that everyone uses #VINCE, a CMU service I had never heard of.
