Bluetti VS Custom Power System - videos.trom.tf/w/86uzfqsAHh86C…
This is the final video about our power system. Since we use 2 completely different and independent power systems, I thought we are in an ideal position to compare the two since we always switch between them.
On one hand we have a Bluetti AC180 power unit connected to 260W of solar, on the other we have a custom built power system with 2x100Ah 12V EcoWorthy batteries, a Victron 100/50 MPPT, and a 1000W inverter - all connected to 650W of solar power.
We will compare the specs, the costs, the reliability, upgradability and repairability.

Our Crazy Motorhome Power System - videos.trom.tf/w/8ErYgvkouPGnF…
910W of solar panels. 3.500Wh of battery storage. 2 completely independent power systems. And yet they can connect to each other and we can switch between them in seconds.
We can also charge from the car alternator or the shore power.
We use a Bluetti AC180 and two EcoWorthy 12V 100Ah batteries. Plus a Bluetti Charger 1.
Insane system but it works wonders!
As a side note this is my first video with the Osmo Pocket 3 camera I just bought. The quality of this camera is really great, especially combined with the DJI Mic Mini. I love it. Makes ma want to make more videos. Especially for TROM. So let's see...

Ready for #Christmas Eve with planned power outages.
Yesterday I tested #Bluetti charging station with a connected gasoline generator. It worked better than I expected because you can set the maximum charging current on Bluetti to not overload the generator, and everything that exits that current will drain the battery. Because the maximum output power of Bluetti is 3.8 kW and the generator could handle only 1.8 kW.

A new 40kg #UPS for my #HomeLab =)
Actually, this is to power critical home infrastructure during power outages. A gasoline generator is good, but a charging station is quiet and cheap to charge (compared to gasoline). Also, they can work together for UNLIMITED POWER*.
*UNLIMITED POWER means while I have gasoline in canisters. It’s around 40 liters. It’s around 60 hours of power from the generator. Plus 10 hours from #Bluetti, so the amount of power is quite finite and would end in three days.

Here's my little Friday project:
https://github.com/tjhowse/esphome_bluetti_eb3a
An ESPHome config for talking to a Bluetti EB3A battery. Fixes a fatal flaw of the battery operating as a UPS by enabling the AC and DC power outputs on a black-start.
Just make sure the ESP32 is powered from mains... not the UPS.

Context: I want my #bluetti UPS to enable its power outputs on black start, rather than leaving them off. The comms is Modbus, plus some magic crypto, plus bluetooth. Could be a fun little project.

Had a bad day :D
Started yesterday when both EcoWorthy 100Ah batteries went from 30% to 0% suddenly. Very frustrating since there are 2 of them and 30% each means 60% of one basically. A lot of power left...at least I had the Bluetti AC180 battery. Switched to it.
Likely an issue with the software not being able to read the state of charge properly...
In the morning had a doctor appointment because of lower abdomen right pain for months now. The doctor said I have hernia and need surgery. I was suspecting I have hernia...
No biggie, at least I know why that pain for so long...
I was tired, didn't sleep much last night, but thought to go empty the motorhome water tank and put fresh water since I had little of it. I thought while I do that I drive so I can also charge the batteries.
I found a place 30 min away for motorhomes that also had power sockets for like 2€ / 4h.
Great!
I'll drive there, charge the batteries while driving, and there I can stay for 2-3 hours empty the grey water tank, fill up the fresh tank, and charge the batteries fully. Nice!
I arrived there. For some reason I thought to check the fresh water tank. It was sandy inside. I spent half an hour cleaning it, the then I realized you need some tokens to use the facilities....can't put fresh water, can't charge batteries.
Decided to drive to another location to put water. On the way there Bluetti refused to charge from the alternator and I was relying on that....idk why, it never did that. So another headache with the power system....
I ended up emptying the tank and putting fresh water in another location, and charged the batteries a bit but not much...
That while in pain and feeling a bit sick.
Bad day.
Now will take a nap and won't do much these days.
I only shared this publicly to showcase that life in the motorhome can be tricky at times...
