A benefit of whole house battery backup is power during grid outages. My system auto switches to battery (+solar) in blackouts, so fast it's effectively a UPS. Fantastic!
Some systems need to be manually switched, some aren't instantaneous, & some can't provide whole house backup at all. Talk to your installer *before* starting!
