Spent the afternoon hanging out at Blocktober fest at Redbud/Batch/Oddwood here in Austin, TX.
Enjoying an Industry Pils from ABGB as the evening fell and things cooled off.

A quick #CastIron #skillet. It's the workhorse of our kitchen and it basically never leaves the stove. Feel a bit bad about making it look so dirty but I felt it needed some extra texture...
Also let's be honest, I probably leave it dirty a little too often 😅

Got some catching up to do, yet still managed to overcomplicate things haha. Altogether a little too much detail on this red #pepper (or #capsicum if you speak latin or happen to be Australian). I think it turned out ok but I'm still working out how best to leverage the blockbench vibe.

I really liked the design of the bottle that #LaGritona tequila comes in - I picked a bottle up when I was fortunate enough to visit america. Doesn't especially look like a tequila bottle - but I really enjoy the vaguely nautical aesthetic of the green glass haha. Tastes real good too!

I picked up a new #straightrazor recently that I'm slowly working my way up too sharpening. Once I manage to get a good edge on it I can abandon my shavette and go full hipster haha.

Day 8 of #blocktober, wanted to switch things up a bit so I did a #monstera that we recently repotted into some of my fresh bokashi soil.
I decided to really accept the blocky, minecraft-style aesthetic that I see a lot of blockbench models take on. I also tries stepping away from the flat colours that have been permeating a lot of my models. It's an interesting challenge from a pixel art background - as adding texture can rely on a lot of colours, but generally with #pixelart you try to limit your palette. I haven't made a decision about what I prefer just yet, it's definitely nice to add detail, though I'm not especially tied to making my assets look like they belong in minecraft.

Day 7 of #blocktober
Continuing the appliance kick I seem to be on, the main #laptop I use at the moment is a MacBook. I like having unix as my base system but I find apple's general attitude to hardware pretty frustrating. Broadly MacOS is a decent enough operating system but one day I'd like to transition to full #Linux

I haven't forgotten about #blocktober, just had a couple of busy days. Day 6: my frankentv Bertha. She's an orphan we adopted and she's probably 50% second hand components bought off ebay - I even soldered on a fresh capacitor at one point! I am also quite proud that she's a dumb TV - all our media gets served off a raspberry pi.

Sticking with the theme of caffenated beverages today's model is a pack of #coffee, It seems recently we've been buying goth-ily package beans which I guess is appropriate for the season. Gothybeans, lol.

A cup of tea. I discovered today that the default renderer inside #blockbench doesn't deal too well with transparency, so I had to export to @Blender and render from there, thus the different render style. Whoops - lesson learned 😅
