  1. I just generated a new #ssh ed25519 key, as the old one had a few years on its back.
I will use it for all my ssh connection needs.
Let the #bikeshed begin: should I also start using it to sign my git commits, instead of my current (and even older, but well known on the WoT) #GPG key?
This question partially inspired by the recent @soatok post reminding me the stark reality that the WoT has failed to deliver.
(there's also the reality that nobody really even cares if I sign my commits or not, but I will continue doing it in spite of it, of course)
  2. Ugh, long day.
Off to Shoreditch now to see a friend, and go to the Bike Shed. Wish I had my motorcycle with me 😭.

    Not to but...

In my experience asking "whom?" only works if the person you ask have a competent(-ish) threat-model, which no normal people do.

The implicit focus on intentionality also downplays the much more frequent accidental loss of control.

At least for me, it works better to ask what outcomes we are trying to avoid, and work through both the intentional, incidental and accidental scenarios that lead there.

  10. Shed update: first coat of paint on the doors and eaves. Used a pneumatic paint gun for the first time, came out pretty decent all things considered I’d say.

Color is “Bells of Ireland” in Clark + Kensington exterior flat.

Second coat going on tomorrow morning, then next weekend will be working on the roof.

  11. Shed progress continued this weekend; roof is on and started wrapping with tyvek.
Next, I’m to remove the old wall of the shed inside so I can start using the extra space! But first I need to paint the doors and install the door hardware.

  12. All I want to do is have a web site about myself as a working #professional, because I'm mid-career and not fabulously wealthy. Even for my substance-over-style sensibilities, #hugo has too many #minimalist #themes to choose from. I am too easily drawn into #bikeshed issues against myself around the theme for the site. Isn't being your own worst enemy wonderful? 🙃

  13. @cranky_david @virginiaheffernan To layer another metaphor, the other thing about “cloud problems” disguised as “clock problems” is that both engineers and their management will think they can reduce them to *simple* clock problems and #bikeshed them to death bikeshed.org/

  14. #bikeshed nearly done. Color still not decided. :flan_stars:
