One concrete example though, how much code does it take in the hotpath to say, switch on the lights from my handheld device. Currently the approach would be something like “install home automation and mqtt broker and zigbee to mqtt and some android app, totally gigabytes of memory, eating multiple Ws at idle for no good reason”. If you can generate code instead of “configuration files” (which are just a really limited programming language anyway), it turns into “button pressed -> wake up -> send zigbee packet -> wake up -> send command to led controller”. All you need to expose is the api for button pressed handling and sending/receiving zigbee packets, which you have _anyway_. The entire multi gigabytes millions of lines of code (billions if you count Linux) energy guzzling stack we think is necessary is just… gone, replaced by generating trivial code instead of thinking one needs to do “configuration” and “use a boring stack”.
Nope, all you need is the ability to code and exposing a few primitives. And the ability to code is now something machines can do so that this also becomes possible for _anybody_.
