  1. I bookmarked this article for #SolarPunkSunday, but I noticed @hbrns had already posted it!

"#Rewilding an eco-centric approach to conservation that allows nature to dictate its own trajectory. Rewilding aims to restore natural processes after major disturbance, and create self-sustaining ecosystems with minimal intervention. Some criticisms portray it as land abandonment or anti-people. However, rewilding is gaining traction in Europe, as it is seen as a transformative way to conserve biodiversity."

  2. “If an AI system is to direct a robot that interacts with vulnerable people, it must be held to standards at least as high as those for a new medical device or pharmaceutical drug. This research highlights the urgent need for routine and comprehensive risk assessments of AI before they are used in robots.” – Rumaisa Azeem, research assistant in the Civic and Responsible AI Lab, King’s College London.

  6. Ocean warming is accelerating, not just gradually increasing!

The research indicates that global mean sea surface temperature (GMSST) is rising faster than previously thought. The rate of increase has risen from 0.06 Kelvin per decade (1985-1989) to 0.27 Kelvin per decade (2019-2023). EEA-based model fits the data much better than linear models. Therefore, linear extrapolations of GMSST are likely to underestimate future warming.

  7. Waterwheels are emerging as a viable zero-carbon electricity source for the future.

In Kashmir, a 2-meter waterwheel provides continuous power to a village with previously unreliable grid electricity. This innovation demonstrates the impact of simple, elegant technology. The #waterwheel design is freely available online with assembly costs as low as $1,000, making it a potential game-changer for remote communities seeking energy #selfsufficiency

  12. Time to rethink our borders.

This article from WIRED provides a much-needed wake-up call about the impending reality of mass climate migration.

The key takeaway is that we need to start planning for this inevitable shift now, including investing in infrastructure, developing international agreements, and ensuring the rights and dignity of those who are forced to flee their homes.

  13. As you know, I am doing a cleanup. Even so it isn't today.

Found the PalmPilot just in time for a (2*AAA) battery swap. The last apparently was 15th of June 2008. Which meant, a complete data loss. History repeats itself and I will never learn it seems.

  14. @hirnsalat it feels very #hardpasta joining ravioli with its mobile last approach (unless I am missing controls on mobile).
