This #podcast I listen to has recently been hyping a "documentary podcast series" in which they interviewed over 50 people to get an inside story about life on the Jerry Springer show. I am very eager to listen to it, not gonna lie, young Ben was a big fan of The Jerry Springer Show even though I should never have been allowed to watch it back then.

Everybody wishes they were Dale Cooper, but I want to be as flamboyant and insane as Windom Earle, wearing little costumes just for fun every day.

Here in Roanoke, our signature dish is from a hole in the wall dive eatery downtown called the Texas Tavern (ahaven for drunk and hungover people in our biggest nightlife area).
The burger is a "Cheesy Western", it a cheeseburger with fried egg and mustard with onions and chili as optional. A couple different places have it on the menu other than TT, and it is the only times you will see me purposefully order a burger (my stomach doesn't process beef well).

I never nap but after I woke up for good today at 4:30 AM with dental pain, I couldn't keep my eyes open by the early afternoon as I tried to listen to a #WeirdAl greatest hits so I ended up crashing on my bed for like 2 hours and 15 minutes. Unfortunately missed all but the final 3 laps of #IndyNXT race as a result.

My friends and I are getting old, so our double Universal Monster feature didn't work out, but had a good time watching Dracula and especially Dwight Frye's deranged performance as Renfield and at dinner I had one of the better calzones I've ever had, and I've had A LOT in my life.

Was originally going to show my friends Halloween III: Season of the Witch for our annual Halloween movie night, but then I realized that both Dracula and Frankenstein are only a little over an hour each and we could easily do both, I'm proposing to them we have a Pre-Code Classics night, maybe with The Invisible Man or The Wolf Man instead of Dracula cause we have done Nosferatu not terrible long ago.

Nobody ever seems to buy the devil red hot dogs at the grocery store that are super cheap cause they are always fully stocked, for probably obvious seasons.
But I will buy them cause I grew up going to the Martinsville Speedway once or twice a year, where bright red is the only hotdog around. They kind of taste like those did when I was young too, which is a plus.

Somebody really needs to make a dedicated streaming service for classic soap opera archives. I know it is possible cause I grew up watching SoapNet on digital cable/satellite, so those archives at least then still existed for most soaps. Wanting to watch 90s soap operas these days is a nightmare.

CW: US Pol, Green Politics
Seeing the Greens rise to prominence in the UK and wishing the US Green Party could ever get its shit together enough to put up a serious fight. Purge the Steinists from power and go on a heavy recruiting kick trying to attract progressives and DemSocs from the DNC and establish a clear wing of Marxists and anarchists and the like with real influence.

Even though the only #NASCAR diecast I buy anymore is cheap obscure vintage cars from the 90s I see in North Carolina thrift malls when I visit, it still makes me sad that young fans have such a limited selection whenever I go to the toys sections of Wal-Mart or Target. When I was a kid you could easily complete a full Cup field with all the different dicast options they had, but now you get like a choice of four or five cars from the most popular drivers in stores.

All I've wanted for days of alternating too little and too much sleep was a normal night of about 8 hours. Well, my body delivered, it just decided to knock me out before even 7 PM cause I made the mistake of trying to stretch out my legs on the bed for a little bit while watching TV, so I woke up for good around 2:45ish this morning.
Even on a "good" sleeping night I find myself awake when nobody else is like 5 hours before school.

Lonesome Dove is so good, I can't believe it has taken me this deep into my life to watch it despite three of my parents all being big fans. I'm glad I own it on DVD.

The funny part about Indictment: The McMartin Trial is that James Woods, the lead in it, probably totally buys into QAnon and Pizzagate shit.

I finished my main online class in one fell swoop yesterday and the only class I have is to take tests later this week. So what degree is my boredom sitting around this morning? Ranting to the groupchat about my favorite bits of "Westerbergian wordplay" in songs by The Replacements with multiple examples.

REO Speedwagon isn't a power pop band probably, but they operate so much within the same realm of big guitars + big melodies that I wouldn't be mad if you called them one. They are like a cousin to power pop.

I tried to read Bone by Jeff Smith when I was a teenager but it just didn't appeal to me back then, but now that I'm revisiting it in my 30s I'm enjoying it a lot more about 90 pages into the over 1,000. I think it was just too cute for me back then, but idgaf about stuff like that now.

The funniest of Ripper's 1996 image of the internet is the future is that somebody could still make a full time living working for a digital newspaper in the future.

It is really distracting to me that the effective lead actor in the #FMVgame Ripper is Lorelei's boyfriend Max from #GilmoreGirls with really badly dyed/bleached hair. As far as FMV acting goes, he's actually not half-bad (it is a low standard though), especially held up against a cast of some fairly well known actors phoning it in, but all I can think about is Gilmore Girls.

I am so happy whenever I throw on a janky, poorly aged horror #FMVGame playthrough as background noise, I quickly get enveloped in the goofy stories. Currently watching the fairly notorious Harvester, which is a 5 hour long video so this one will have to be done over multiple watch sessions.
-
Off and on yesterday and today I've been working on watching a complete playthrough (a bit over 2 hours) of the poorly reviewed #FmvGame from the mid 90s Paparazzi! Tales of Tinseltown
Honestly, while the gameplay is basically just screenshots and watching videos, the videos themselves are really fun doing a full send up of pop and celebrity culture of the 90s, doing parodies of everybody from Madonna to Rush Limbaugh to grunge to Liz Taylor to Michael Jackson to Andy Warhol, etc

My friends' dog Louie has been so disturbed today by my watching a complete playthrough of The mansion of Hidden Souls on #SEGA Saturn, he hates all the various sound effects.

I'm always up for trying something new, 5 pin #acupuncture on both ears for free on a converted schoolbus in a library parking lot.

CW: US Pol, Bill Clinton
There's so much bad that could have been avoided had we just listened to and believe Paula Jones that Bill Clinton was a predator and complete creep. Everybody who worked on that campaign knew what he was, and are directly responsible for continuing his push for the Presidency despite it.

Sometimes I like to put hats on Snacks the Raccoon cause he's got a real chonky head that fits them nicely.

I don't know if it counts as acting if it is clearly apparent the person is literally intoxicated, but Wings Hauser gave one of my favorite drunk performances ever in the terrible vanity project #bmovie Get Even/Road the Revenge
