We saw so many Greylag geese in Iceland last May. Fun fact: its scientific name, Anser anser, translates as "Goose goose." 😀

A quick, drive-by shot I took of an entryway to Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, England, back in 2016. We didn't have time to go into the castle. It might have been closed for the season already anyway (it was mid-October).

Happy solstice to those who celebrate! For me it just means I can start the countdown to autumn because summer is my least favourite season. 😂
Anyway, these cute asters just popped up in my garden. Not something I planted and I don't know if it's an invasive weed or a friendly pollinator magnet, but I hope it's the latter. That one bee in the photo seems to enjoy it.

Somewhere in Aurlandsfjellet, Norway. I felt like I was standing on top of the world, but it wasn't even the highest mountain pass in Norway. We drove through that one a couple days later.

Never seen a Japanese beetle in my garden until yesterday. Hopefully, to quote the spousal unit, it was just "a single dummy that got lost." Until I start seeing any real damage, I'm putting my faith on the birds to be their predators. We do get a lot of birds visiting our garden daily.

My second favourite photo that I took in Oslo is this one, featuring Edvard Munch's The Scream. There are three versions of The Scream that you can see at the Munch Museum, but we didn't go there. We went to the National Museum instead where you can view this version, which is probably the most famous one.
Quite a few people posed in front of the painting for photos, some wore the expression of the person in the painting. It was fun to watch. Would've done the same if I hadn't found it too awkward with the security guard standing so close. 😂

The #Martello Tower in #Magilligan Point, Northern #Ireland, at the entrance of Lough Foyle, was built between 1812-1817. I had @Forestpirate to stand in front of it in the second photo for scale.

Trying to decide whether to tempt fate and sow my cosmos seeds in my annual container now or wait another couple of weeks. 🤔 (I live in zone 5b, def. not in the west coast but seeds are from BC.)

Morning! I'm really people'd out today after having had to deal with people for three days out of seven already this week, but do I get a break today? Of course not. People are such energy vampires. Ugh.

One year we decided to go on a road trip to #Grasslands National Park in #Saskatchewan (#Canada) to check out some #bisons in the wild (among others). It didn't take long for us to accomplish the mission.

Ugh. I hate when they added a "Mrs." in front of my name on stuff. It makes it look like I'm married to my dad (who made up our last name—long story)
I never changed my last name after I married the spousal unit. I come from a matrilineal ethnic group and the spousal unit's family is patrilineal. Neither of us wished to change our or each other's last names. (MIL is still bitter about it but she just has to deal.) Besides, it's the 21st frickin' century.
Why we haven't got rid of common titles or whatever they're called is beyond me. It's such an outdated concept. And really, marital status is personal and nobody else's business, and certainly none of any corporation's business. (I'm looking at you, banks and airlines.)

I was treated to this spectacle on my very first winter over 21 years ago. Lake Erie was frozen solid and I swear you could walk for miles on it. That's a mountain (wall?) of ice in the background. Truly unforgettable. And what a sunset view!

Took this photo of the town of #Heimaey on Heimaey Island, which is part of Westman Islands off the south coast of #Iceland, from the top of the lava field under which half of the town is buried during a volcanic eruption in January 1973. 50 years ago this month.
