The EC forecast this morning, May 10, has nothing other than a frost advisory.

The byline suggests a machine wrote the story, but it's never made clear.

No wonder people hate this incompetent corporate-sponsored garbage being shoved down their throats.

Lessons from cycling for 13 mins in -20°C after a massive snow storm:
- I have to cycle slowly
- Snow accumulated in bike lanes makes them unusable
- Cycling is still faster than all the cars. They keep passing me, and I keep passing them when they stop at loooong queues at red lights
- Beard and moustache icicles form much faster at this temperature
- I need a thinner touque that fits better under my helmet. And a winter tires for my bike.

The pandemic notwithstanding, if there is ever a time when a "shelter in place" order should be issued it's when it's dangerously cold and 60+cm of snow falls in less than 24 hours.

Instead, people are clearing their driveway 3 or 4 times during the blizzard so they will be able to get their car out first thing in the morning for work/school... aka capitalism. And our official weather service warns us that intense snow will lead to "increased travel times" and to "take breaks when clearing snow".

Snow has been falling steadily for a few hours now.

We still have power and heat which is wonderful.

When I needed to run a few last-minute errands earlier, many of the floors were soaked with large puddles of water. I’m guessing it was from all of the snow folks are tracking indoors.

The Windsor-Quebec City corridor got hit with two winter storms in 4 days -- some areas have received 60+cm of snow, with drifts over a meter.

If you've got cabin fever, bundle up and check on neighbours! Check to make sure they've got heat and are stocked up on food.

Heat pumps work by circulating air -- if they're blocked by snow drifts, they don't work as well.

Also, make sure exhausts from dryers and high-efficiency gas furnaces aren't covered by snow.
