@ge0rg nerd-snipe complete!
Checkout my Deep Dive into the Tenda 4G185 v3 MiFi device which is now self hosting it's own website: https://projects.solarcene.community/posts/main/index.html
It was a very deep rabbit hole of reverse engineering, looking for exploits, cross compiling, messing with scripts, finding vulnerabilities, reinventing the wheel and a lot of research.
But the work is not done, now it's to make it actually useful 😂

Update:
I've moved gitea off the orangepi5 and have it now working well on my #pinephone which is connected via usb ethernet to the network, it's running #postmarketos and seems to be handling it well https://git.solarcene.communityThe mastodon instance is still on the orangepi and while it does keep resetting it seems to be reasonably stable, it's all backed up, I'm still planning what to do next, I might build a second server and then move everything across. Still not sure what's made the #orangepi5 unstable after over a year of running

First #aeroponic #harvest #lettuce to add to our dinner!

CW: Reference to spiders
Our local #spiders have setup home on the #aeroponic tower and seem to be keeping it all balanced, not getting as nibbled as my normal raised beds, perhaps I need to 3d print spider homes.
#hydroponics -
It's hot in the UK, currently in the ritual of closing windows/blinds to limit how much hot gets in, unfortunately houses are well insulated so while it's cool for a short period of time eventually the heat gets trapped and stays put...
Don't remember having to do this a few years ago #climatecrisis #ClimateCrisisIsNow

One of my recent projects has been creating a #solar powered #aeroponics (similar to #hydroponics) 3D printed vertical tower #garden.
It uses a popular modular #3dprinted tower design where water is pumped up a central column and allowed to cascade down over the roots of the growing plants.
Usually people attach their towers to mains but I wanted to make it solar powered and also report data back to my home #grafana dashboard.
Finally got round to documenting the progress - https://git.solarcene.community/smallsolar/VerticalGarden

Adding to my #solarpunk bingo card, just had to service my #aeroponics system as noticed the pump wasn't activating.
Will write up the project soon

I'm working an #aeroponic vertical tower to grow #lettuce , 3D printer but with a solar powered battery to run the pump.
I know I'll need to adjust the run times but trying to work out what the best starting timings should be, I was thinking something like 3 minutes on and 17 off or is that too long off. I'm in the UK so currently climate is quite dry. The controller is programmed by me so I can do any combination, perhaps 1 min on and 6 mins off.Any suggestions?

Picking aphids off my lettuce starters with tweezers...
Surprisingly satisfying

@solaradmin my #hydroponics setup is going well, so it's time to start working on the next project - a vertical hydroponics tower, for simplicity I'm using on of the modular designs off printables and I've got some spare filament made from waste filament from 3DQF.
I've realised though I won't have power for the water pump so currently designing a 12V solar system to power it. I've had to splash out for a small lithium battery but I'm hoping to salvage/repurpose the rest of the components, might even make my own solar panel from raw cells (if I don't crack them all while handling them)

#Solarpowered #hydroponics are now online! During the summer I have excess solar power from the @solaradmin setup so last year I decided to try and use the spare power for a bit of hydroponics. It was a reasonable success so this year I'm going to do it again.
I'm going to grow basil again using the #kratkymethod as it worked well and we made lovely pesto with it. Particular lessons I've learnt include that I've upgraded my pH meter to a half decent one and properly calibrated with the solutions. Also with the change in the solar setup to a 24v system I think I'll have more power so will be able to max the on time for the lights.
I also started the basil plants on a windowsill in rockwool and only did one seed per block and each germinated so no crowding. I've also installed the 10W water heater just to ensure it's reasonably warm.Let's see how it goes!

I was wondering if the garage switch was failing, I'd be surprised if it's the main router as that seems okay with all the other network stuff in that house.
Any thoughts?

Something is up with the local network that solarcene.community is on, it might be to do with the network switches power supply, I'm looking into it - apologies for anyone who uses the server!

Previously I had 3 eufy smart plugs controlling some lamps in our house, the app has become unreliable so I've replaced them with Tapo ones (which are much more hackable).
I've therefore been having fun trying to unpick how the plugs work, not yet completely worked it all out but will write it up soon.
I'd be interested if anyone else either has eufy smart plugs or have an interest in understanding how they work and perhaps how they could be made more 'independent' 😜
