I've a somewhat bad luck with picking a brand that is highly recommended, even if they cost more at times compared to the competition, and end up discovering they're shitty literally so soon after my purchase.
That happened with #Anker 's #Eufy, and it happened with #BambuLabs. For the latter, it seems that they're continuing their bullshit crusade against people freaking owning their #3Dprinters they paid for - including by hunting down #FOSS devs/projects that allow people to print stuffs on their printers without being spied on by Bambu Labs.
Seriously, fuck these brands and vote with your wallet. Also, if you've always been paranoid of American brands, don't forget to do so with Chinese brands too. You're a fool if you a think they're any better.

I think the most annoying and disturbing discovery about this temporary no internet run is the fact that my fucking #Eufy cameras are useless without internet.
I bought a bunch of em, eventho they're a lot expensive than other cheap alternatives from #Tapo/#TP-Link and #Xiaomi bcos they're "supposed" to be offline and not connected (or at least, not reliant) to the cloud, yada yada, but quickly after I bought them, despite that being their marketing for the product - they were called out in multiple occasions that that's just not true.
Anyway, yea, from last night till ~2pm today, it's been recording fuckin' nothing. Bloody hell, please, avoid Eufy and #Anker products at all cost. After I got into #HomeAssistant, and doing more research on security cam products, #Reolink (and Tapo) seems to be where it's at and what you should actually get. -

This week, I bring you part 2 - the Outdoor Cam E220 (mildly interesting), the S380 HomeBase (kinda cool), and the really nifty solar-powered Eufy SoloCam S340s. Plus, there’s a video of my granddaughter Siena doing experiments with the AI tracking!

Previously I had 3 eufy smart plugs controlling some lamps in our house, the app has become unreliable so I've replaced them with Tapo ones (which are much more hackable).
I've therefore been having fun trying to unpick how the plugs work, not yet completely worked it all out but will write it up soon.
I'd be interested if anyone else either has eufy smart plugs or have an interest in understanding how they work and perhaps how they could be made more 'independent' 😜

This is my eufy doorbell camera. If I configure it to avoid false positives like thinking a bush, or snow on a roof across the street is a human, then it doesn't detect people coming to the door. If I set it to detect people, I get numerous false positives at dusk and dawn for things that aren't even moving. I can set an activity area and one square ignore area that the app doesn't respect. Nope, I wouldn't buy another eufy camera.

My replacement #Eufy #RoboVac now only has one side brush instead of two. Yeah I don’t believe that. It’s a production cost saver for them. Will see how well it does with dog hair and sand.

Zwar hat sie im Langzeittest einige Schwächen festgestellt, trotzdem überlässt sie dem Saug- und #Wischroboter von #eufy gerne die lästige Aufgabe, die Böden ihrer Wohnung sauber zu halten.
