Just a stray thought to piggyback off of my last Gram Parsons post.
I realize how many artists have covered “Love Hurts”, but the best version clearly belongs to Gram Parsons (and Emmylou).
The version on Grievous Angel has that stripped-down, aching country feel that really fits the lyrics of that song.
It’s far less polished than say…the Nazareth version, but way more intimate sounding.
Gram Parsons had a way of making heartbreak sound… almost noble.

@mhoye I fill out my #vinyl with #SecondHand #records. One day I was talking to the owner (Outdoor market record store) if he had a copy of Dexter’s first album from the #FlatDuoJets? He didn’t and the talk went to Australian Rock-A-Billy and the fact that in the 70s Dutch tourists scooped up all the records of Australian vinyl; Meaning there are none left. Limited market and the fact they were never re-pressed and as rare as hens teeth.

Scored the final The Wych Elm album from a seller/shop in Iowa. Since they had a couple of other J-related records I asked, and indeed they knew J and miss him.

There’s some beautiful songs on this thing, and Crystal Gayle (surprisingly!) is a wonderful vocal partner for Waits.
It’s one of those soundtracks that is FAR superior to the movie that birthed it, as the film is one of Francis Ford Coppola’s most flawed.
Gorgeous songs here, though.

Freitag - Ein halber Tag im Büro lohnt sich ja auch kaum. Computer einschalten, Kaffee, Neuigkeiten zur Kenntnis nehmen, Kaffee, ein paar kleine Gespräche, Kaffee, und dann ist der Arbeitstag auch schon rum. Warum auch nicht?
Der Nachmittag ist dafür umso ereignisreicher. Der Buchladen unseres Vertrauens hat ein paar neue Bücher für meine beste Ehefrau von allen und mich, und dann auch noch seit neuestem eine kleine, feine Auswahl köstlicher #vinyl Scheiben. Eine davon (Hans Zimmer! 🎵) adoptiere ich vom Fleck weg. Ich hoffe, dass die Auswahl noch ein bisschen größer wird, was unweigerlich einige Verschiebungen in meiner finanziellen Hemisphäre nach sich ziehen wird. Ich bin gespannt. Dann unternehme ich einen weiteren Versuch, die neue Grafikkarte zur Arbeit im heimischen Rechenknecht zu bewegen, und siehe da! Sie funktioniert anstandslos. Was eventuell an dem Hammer liegen könnte, der, rein zufällig natürlich, direkt neben dem PC-Gehäuse lag. Zu guter Letzt reinige ich neun der 16 alten, geretteten Schallplatten inklusive Cover, so gut es eben geht. Von jeder Platte entferne ich mehrere Schichten Fett und genug Nikotin für 'ne Schachtel Zigaretten. Wie neu sehen sie nun nicht aus, aber besser als vorher allemal.
#amEndedesTages werte ich den Test der neuen Grafikkarte als Erfolg. Jetzt geht es analog weiter - Buchseiten blättern, und ein kleiner Drink auf dem Sofa. Ist ja Wochenende!
Morgen vormittag kommen die Möbel für meinen Vater. Dann wird der Inbus-Schlüssel geschwungen und Ikea gepuzzelt, bis der Arzt kommt! Ich freu mich drauf!
