  1. Are there currently any methods or projects that make it possible to get localisation or internationalisation by throwing processing power at it?

Idk, something like get multiple different self-hosted automatic translation systems to translate a single string, and if they agree on translation, then that translation gets accepted.

hmm, first time seing this issue.
But this is just on my instance, on your instance (fosstodon.org) it shows up fine. Mastodon web interface probably just can't embed the liliputing.com article properly or something.

But good thing that you used a #PocketBlue tag, so that we are able to search for it ourselves 👍

  5. All right, some progress in regards to #LineageOS 23.2 #DesktopMode on #Fairphone 4:
The latest build, lineage-23.2-20260218-nightly-FP4, now actually does display the desktop instead of just mirroring the phone display when connected to external monitor.

The prompt on phone still shows just Mirror and Dismiss options. Mirror, despite it's name, enables desktop mode, while Dismiss just keeps connected monitor unused.

Sadly, the External Display in Settings still doesn't offer "Extend" option.

  10. Ok, I see that there are some settings in #Android 16 QPR1+ / #LineageOS 23.2 in regards to connected monitors under Settings -> Connected Devices -> External Displays.

But still, I can't find any option in there to enable Desktop Mode
Also, is there a consensus already about how this phenomenon is to be called?
Years ago it was referred to as "Mobile Convergence", but that means something else. Is there any more popular term for using-phone-as-a-pc than "desktop mode"?

  15. Still no QPR1 Desktop Mode in #LineageOS 23.2?
Still no moving mouse cursor between connected display and phone screen?

Actually, I checked that with #Scrcpy
    scrcpy --new-display=1920x1080

How do you actually now get the desktop mode over USB-C dock?
The "Mirror display" now actually does what it says, shows a copy of phone screen, probably because "Force desktop mode" is no longer present in Developer Options.

Any other #android enthusiasts looked into this? Any advice?

  20. For #FOSDEM2027, could we rent some sports hall / arena near ULB for a few days and convert it into an improvised hostel?
That way there would be less pressure on public transport from #Brussles centre to ULB.

Will we have to go full #PGP and have Real Person Certified™ corners of the internet?
