I’m so hot right now: pleased to see that I’m bang on trend for the season in my hoodies and leather jackets. I knew this would eventually happen. Mark my words, it will be nerdy t-shirts and cosy beanies next.
The Guardian: top 10 trends for your autumn wardrobe.

Watched #Newsnight right up to the point where the Telegraph columnist said Starmer made a mistake by initially not letting Trump use our airbases. Nope. I’m out.

Also, look at the perfection of that hashtag data.

I woke up in the night wondering about the whole “on the third day he rose again” business. If he died on Friday, wouldn’t that make Monday the third day? At the risk of sounding like a Craig David song, wouldn’t he have chilled on Sunday?

Not the hero Britain wanted, but the hero we need.
“Before his win, Bush told the local newspaper the Newcastle Herald on Saturday that if victorious he would burn the mullet and send the ashes to Australia in an urn, in reference to the traditions of the Ashes cricket competition.”

Perfect timing, I reckon. One last magic spell tomorrow and done. A legend of the game and a master of the celebrappeal and Broadhousery. Maybe shift Marnus’ bails around once more, just for fun.

As an erstwhile marathon runner myself, this is a staggering achievement by an extremely humble seeming guy. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/dec/29/its-me-against-the-road-meet-the-marathon-man-of-west-cumbria #runner #marathons #humbling

“They’ve asked me to play a 12th-century German-speaking one-legged pope. You know what? Turns out he’s just like me.”
They don’t make’em like Michael Gambon any more.

Late Kate-ing #ThePlaylist as is my wont. Absolutely DELIGHTED to hear Farmer in the City by Scott Walker.
@RolloTreadway You did it! Finally!
Thank you, @DJDarren What a treat.
This song haunts my dreams. And David Attenborough’s, probably.

This week's nationals treasure, may they last twice as long as Lord Sir David, 200 years old, dragging their frail carcasses around, praying for the end, but too beloved to be allowed to expire.

It’s World MS Day today.
The guy on the left in this picture was 31 years old and had just woken up with a numb hand. Ultimately, in 2009 he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
The guy on the right is 49. He’s run 6 marathons. Although he now sometimes walks with a stick, he still runs (after a fashion), rows and swims. He’s doing as much as he can. I think he’s a kinder, wiser person than he was all those years ago.

At my neurology consult on Friday, the registrar spent some time detailing how it was so important that I was keeping my exercise up as much as possible as this would help me maintain my independence for longer. I think he needs to work on his motivational bedside manner, to be honest.

I mean, this is just marvellous.

Well, that was quite a way to break my “Mystery Guest” duck in The Folly at the End of the Road Festival.

My birthday was announced in the pre-run brief (unbeknownst to me, as I was already on my spot), so I had about 350 parkrunners wish me Happy Birthday as they ran past me (twice!). Followed this up with a swim in the lake, sauna, cake, champagne and now for the rugby. A lovely day so far!
-
I picked up my shiver squad badge at the lake this morning. 30 winter swims from the beginning of November. I absolutely love swimming in the winter and it’s a pleasure to be a part of this wonderful community.
I don’t even like cold showers, for goodness sake. This is my third year in a row getting this badge.
-
Always magical to swim amongst the ice on a cold and sunny winter morning.
-
Watching Ed Gamble and Lou Sanders in Iceland swimming in the Silfra fissure in dry suits as it’s so, so cold. I googled it. It’s 2-4 degrees C all year round. I do that in my trunks, kids!
-
Under cover of darkness, some fuckers took down the Pride and LGBTQ+ flags at the lake, tried to burn them and replaced the with the George Cross.
This is a safe place of love and inclusion where all are welcome. It tells you everting you need to know about these flag tits that they are threatened by this.
Fuck them. They are on the wrong side of history.
-
It’s important to dress properly for winter swimming.
-
Swimsuit try-on day at the lake today.
Hmm.Lovely swim and sauna, mind.
-
Very much looking forward to a swim in the rain down at the lake in a bit. So calming.
Sauna should be good too. -
There seems to be a larger number of arseholes in the world than normal at the moment, so it was extra nice this morning to spend an hour or so at the lake with some lovely people for a swim and sauna. The water is still 17 degrees or so, but there’s a pleasingly autumnal snap to it and the sauna was a pleasant 90 degrees. We put the world to rights in there too, let me tell you.
