  1. Ich hätte ich einen NETGEAR 5G Router mit SIM-Karte & WiFi 6 (Modell:MR5200-100EUS) abzugeben.

Ich denke, das so 150€ ein fairer Preis wären.

  2. Nationalizing SpaceX is appropriate not only because the space company wields too much political power, but also because Elon Musk has become a serious obstacle to the sensible use of its technically excellent rockets.

These things commonly occurred when church parishes were laid out. What people did was to make a *list* of which farms belonged to a certain parish. Whether the territorial border of the parish made any sense was unimportant. But later, one edge of that parish might become a national border.

So my guess is that what you've got here is the boundary between the fields of two Medieval farms.

🫣😆 #mecces #mcdonalds #McRib #nostalgie

  7. I wonder if one reason we've seen so much growth in the in the last decade is that pretty much everyone who actually fought in or even just lived through WWII has now passed on.

The philosopher George Santayana famously wrote: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Not only that, but I think a lot of these raise-the-flags, stop-the-boats folk genuinely believe that their ancestors from that time would support what they're doing — when probably the opposite is true.

  8. It's up to a website whether or not it requires your approval to use a passkey in any given situation. Some will require it only for higher-risk actions. This is because you've already had to use your biometric information, PIN or password to unlock and use your device — so because it's unlikely someone would grab it from your hands, or sneak up to your desk when your back is turned, it's a reasonable assumption that it's still you using it.

  9. I just got a H3C announcement:

  10. 87-year-old customer says she's not eaten all day because she's so stressed trying to .

In a 90-minute phone call – and with English not her first language – she followed diligently step-by-step as I guided her to restart the iPad, try the iPhone instead, restart the , restart the router, rejoin the printer to Wi-Fi, factory reset the printer, check for printer firmware updates, and factory reset the router. All to no avail.

Now I'm off to find her a new printer, and she's promised she'll have dinner.

Dear tech bros: we don't want AI, we don't want smart everything, we don't want a new version every year. We want stuff that works.

  12. Orcs, Dwarves and Undead were the cast of the last adventure on Saturday. The minis are still missing a finish with Quickshade, but I want to do that outside and the weather is not compatible right now.

  14. Sunday – funday: screen of my wife's MacBook broke. iPad via Sidecar to the rescue. Blindly navigating through display settings with Voiceover to enable mirroring – wow, that was hard – then built a keyboard shortcut and auto-connector with Codex.

    Accessibility is hard.

  16. Further on the f... up yesterday.
Assessing Microsoft's current app strategy "pest or cholera" may be a tad brutal, but I maintain that it IS accurate!
Microsoft have caught us right in the middle of two distinct design failures:

    1. Electron overhead. The so-called desktop apps may work and show documents "correctly", but they have sooo much overhead they swallow gigs of RAM, leak memory, and return "Not Responding" for long periods of time.
    2. Cloud-first (read lock-in). "Traditional" real apps held local state and sync'ed in the background. Now it seems that all the telemetry, licensing, and co-authoring stuff is just blocking everything. On top of that, the web-apps are not rendering documents to look like the way the do in the desktop apps - So while they're less "Not Responding", they look like shite.

Anyways... Let's support each others - and the companies around us - in getting off that shit. Will it be perfect? Certainly not, but at least it'll be a fresh start :)

  18. I have a strange problem with Firefox that is driving me completely nuts.

And I think I need someone to help me see the obvious.

    I am using Firefox 158.0.1 (aarch64) with Firefox Multi-Account Containers 8.3.8.

I have a web site that won't open if I am not inside a container. And I have no clue why.

Firefox says: "The page isn’t redirecting properly" when opening without a container.

But if I open the same web page inside a container, it opens without any problem. It doesn't matter which container I use. Any will do.

I use the containers only to separate cookies. I never did anything to the settings. With another browser or curl, the web site doesn't do any redirect.

  20. The new voices in instapaper.com are really good. Very pleasant to listen to; especially on long articles.

I’ve never been a big user of text-2-speech because the quality has been too low. Now I can actually listen to long form text content.

I believe in a new era for text with these advances!
