  1. Happy to see #GhostfireGaming & #DungeonDudes will have material on #DnDBeyond. I immediately find myself wondering if 3rd parties like #KoboldPress, #MCDM, and #ENWorld who compete with #WOTC #DnD on other #TTRPG fronts will ever get the chance.

  2. @phd20 I've been running #DDAL at #FLGS (Tribe Comics & Games in S. Austin) for the last 6 months or so, after playing there for 9 months or so. 3-5 tables most weeks. All open tables.
It's a great way to introduce new players to #TTRPGs, and an easy way for players to try many different things in actual play without a big commitment or disrupting a stable game. The lack of continuity is a downside for everyone. As a GM, the AL constraints can be frustrating.

  3. @MasteringDnD @shawnmerwin I may have imagined the "consecutive" bit. ☺️

That episode also got me thinking about DMs in a #DDAL-weekly-open-tables context (where no one DM is clearly "your DM") facilitating use of DDAL downtime days for interested players who don't understand the rules or just want a richer experience.

  4. @LeviKornelsen DMing #DnD5e #DDAL at #FLGS, often for new players, and (more enthusiastically) playing or running #ShadowdarkRPG

  5. @malin watched in the phone app, so I was at the mercy of YouTube's (not directly searchable) History, but the browser was still a lifesaver, thanks to Find In Page. Eventually found my way to #FumbleTable talking #BlackMarsh and #HexRoll 2.

  6. The #Cairn2e Kickstarter has a little over a week left, and is just under $5k from the 3 stretch goal adventures being printed and added to the boxed set. Great #TTRPG deal for $55! kickstarter.com/projects/15579

  7. Started listening to the new #Qcode #DungeonMasters #podcast starring #JohnHamm.
    • The conceit of a DM narrator running a game is pretty annoying, and mis-characterizes the game almost immediately. (After minutes of character dialog: "You've come to your first choice ... Let's roll a #d20 to see what you do.")
    • There was an incredibly long ad spot less than 10 minutes in. (For the same sponsor who had ample mention at the top of the show.)

    I don't know.

  8. I resisted the #Dolmenwood and #WeirdWizard #TTRPG Kickstarters, but I think I only managed because they were happening at the same time. Now #MythicBastionland is calling to me.

  9. In a roll-under #TTRPG like The #BlackHack or #CairnRPG, is there some mechanism I've missed to adjust difficulty? Seems odd to have the same chance of success for everything you roll with a given attribute. #OSR #RPG

  10. @gvwilson do people still like #Spideroak for this? It's zero-knowledge, I believe.

  11. #DoveTail in south #Austin does some great, interesting pizza, gnocchi, smoked eggplant, and probably more.

  12. #KnaveRPG 2nd Edition #TTRPG Kickstarter is coming soon. kickstarter.com/projects/quest

With the original being an amazingly clear 7 pages, I'm not sold on the idea of Knave expanding to a hardcover book. But it will probably be excellent.

  13. I don't do a lot of free trials, but I'm doing one for #NintendoOnline and am very surprised how clearly and in how many places they tell you how to turn off automatic renewal so you don't automatically get charged after 7 days. Does everyone have to be this good, or is #Nintendo especially good?

  14. I highly recommend #GuyDelisle's #Jerusalem. If you're going to learn about intractable human tragedy, do it with the humanity and humor of a French-Canadian who lived there for a year.

  15. I got my hardcover of #DeathmatchIslandRPG this week. I love the theme and now think I understand the mechanics well enough to understand how it can play out and be a lot of fun at the table. It's farther from D&D than anything I've played.

With the book in hand I'm surprised the final PDFs haven't been distributed to backers yet. I think the latest is a preview from December. #TTRPG #EvilHatProductions

  16. Signed copy of #TonyDiTerlizzi's new book arrived yesterday! Like maybe a lot of people my age, I first saw his #illustration in #DnD #Planescape in the 90's, and it BLEW ME AWAY. Grateful to have learned of this book from @MasteringDnD.

  17. Very disappointed with #FitBit. My less-than-2-year-old #FitBitCharge5 #FitnessTracker battery suddenly went from lasting days to lasting less than 8 hours, and they only offer a 35% discount on a new watch. Why would I ever buy another one?

  18. Just listened to @MasteringDnD's episode on downtime in the DMG. @shawnmerwin mentioned spending multiple consecutive #AcqInc sessions on "downtime activities," which had me wondering at what point it's no longer downtime and now just a different game mode—or a different game? I've always thought of downtime as stuff done out of session or in odd little (maybe one-on-one) sub-sessions.

  19. We just realized that in #MoWillems' "Elephant & Piggy" stories, the elephant's name is Gerald.

    Elephant's Gerald.

    Ella Fitzgerald.

    🤯

  20. Both of those changes are in #JingleBellRock, which I naively expected to be too easy to be interesting to learn.

  21. With #Dreamzzz and this new Viking village, it's an incredible time to play #DnD with #Lego minifigs. (Some folks are big into this. I used to lurk them on Reddit.)

  22. I highly recommend #GuyDelisle's #Jerusalem. If you're going to learn about intractable human tragedy, do it with the humanity and humor of a French-Canadian who lived there for a year.

  23. I highly recommend 's . If you're going to learn about intractable human tragedy, do it with the humanity and humor of a French-Canadian who lived there for a year.
