  1. New beta rules for #DC20 dropped today.

I’m pretty interested in the Phoenix Druid since it’s very close in concept to the Druid that my friend is playing in our #dnd campaign.

    Favourite part:
A flavour feature where the Phoenix Druid can boil 4L of water by touching the vessel it’s contained in for a minute.

I can see all kinds of scalding shenanigans coming out of that. 😆

I like what I’m seeing so far!

  2. I am still waiting on some beta reader feedback for my book and I’m starting to get cabin fever—but for #writing.

So I’ve been working through converting an adventure I made for my friends in #DC20 into something that others could use to try out the system.

I’m having fun adding in layers of homebrew (because what you need in a beta system is also some random guy’s ideas for added chaos).

The challenge is converting my improv into something other humans can use. We’ll see how goes. #ttrpg

  4. @SeaFury Nice! I briefly forgot summer is coming over there. 😅

I’ve been having fun with it and have even started adapting my favourite bits (like this combat challenge) to our #dnd games.

I recommend checking out the pre-made #dc20 one-shot The Hunted. It breaks down the skill and combat challenge mechanics well and it’s a good intro for players who are even new to #ttrpg in general.

  5. Y’all. Y’all listen. #ttrpg and #dnd friends, this is so good.

The combat challenge system introduced in #dc20 is amazing.

Tonight, I had a combat experience where the party failed. Not only was it quick and dramatic, but we went into a fail state where we could keep the action and the story moving.

The transparency for the table plus failing forward just makes for this amazing flow. I am so impressed.

  6. First part of the #FeywildWest one-shot went great last night!

Fun with character intros, riding chocobos, and the combat was solid: challenging but not overdrawn.

One of my favourite parts of #dc20 is the skill challenge. I was delighted to see the whole party come up with unique ways to handle a scenario rather than saying "everyone roll Awareness."

Same time next week where they'll learn about the mysterious gunslinger that appeared once the group bested the feyotes.

  7. Laying out plans for a one-shot (well, two or three shot) set in the #FeywildWest.

I have seven interested players. So the plot becomes obvious: The Magnificent Seven!

Setting up the overall arc and then I’ll start digging into encounter specifics. Going to leverage the #DC20 system. It’ll be my first time setting up something from scratch there instead of using the pre-built one shot. Interested fo see how it plays out. Especially with so many players!

  8. I have played only a single one shot of #DC20 but I'm already imagining it replacing #DnD as my #ttrpg of choice.

Excited to try a larger campaign with it.

  9. Had a character-building session for #dc20. Before, I ran a pre-built one-shot. Now I’m going to play one of my own design! We have a nice eclectic mix of characters.

Should be fun and I’m especially excited to be introducing a new friend I met while vacationing in America to playing tabletop rpgs! (Excited for both making a new friend and for introducing fun games.) Weeee!

  10. Shadow Scar, Enter the Labyrinth, A CAT RPG, but the headline is RPG release this week is The Dungeon Coach's "DC20" beta 0.8 release #RoutinelyItemised geeknative.com/168059/routinel #rpgnews #ttrpg #dc20

  11. Second time trying the same #dc20 one-shot.

Learning more and had a good time. Was feeling more of a time crunch on this one (started much later, feeling more tired). Getting a better sense that the bad guys might have a bit too much HP. I made some subtle adjustments to lower it and the fight had a nicer conclusion.

Players loved the skill and combat challenges—really nice way to have a tidy story beat. They were excited to have lots of options. Really good all-in-all!

  12. #dc20 One shot was fun! Thoughts:
    - Feels like a beta; lacking some polish that would help clear up confusion
    - Conditions were challenging; lots of “X causes Y and gives Z” then look up Y, which also gives Z, then find out Z stacks. Hard to grok.
    - Combat moved smoothly. Everyone felt their turns were worthwhile, had enough to do, and felt dynamic; but it did start to drag a bit.
    - Uncertain whether certain actions always work because mechanics or if they need a flavour justification.

  13. Trying a new #ttrpg system today: DC20!

Players and I are really excited. The character creation has been really flexible and opened up a lot of interesting, creative space. We’ll see how the actual gameplay goes, but I’ve been incorporating some elements from it into my existing #dnd games and it’s been pretty great so far.

    Ready to rock… and roll! (Y’know… because dice…) #dc20

  14. In today’s #dnd, I tried out a skill challenge from #dc20. I give the players a situation and then they tell me what skill they use to overcome it. The players earn success points, and with enough across the party, they succeed or fail forward as a group.

Went really well and was a lot more fun than just “everyone give me an X check.”

Reminded me of #bladesinthedark and how the decision on which check to use is always in the players’ hands and I really liked that about the system. #trrpg

  15. Started reading through the one-shot for #dc20 that just dropped.

There’s a simple mechanic for skill and combat challenges that make it so much nicer for getting through a quick combat scenario without needing to roll up initiative and do a whole thing.

It’s enough to make me slap myself in the head and go “Why didn’t I think of that?”

Pretty excited for this system. My playgroup has started exploring more and we’re already making plans to switch away from #5e. #ttrpg

  16. so,
#DC20 is a #TTRPG system that is currently in development, that has been nicknamed by some as "the evolution of #DnD", which I tend to agree with.
it's very familiar to those coming from the D&D ecosystem, only with some changes I really appreciate.

well their kickstarter has 36 hours left on it and they're really close to two stretch goals, and since I already pledged I will personally benefit from them reaching those goals.

so please, consider pledging as well.

  17. Aside, I’m super stoked for #dc20.

I’ve been going over the Alpha rules and playing with character creation and having a lot of fun with it.

Playing #dnd today, my players were trying to set up creative and interesting combat turns and it was immediately apparent how the 4-action system in DC20 would have made that so much easier and more fun.

Decided to back it and excited to give it a whirl. #ttrpg

  18. @moonmoth @MightyMightyDice @dnddeutsch

  19. There's a free-to-download DC20 preview with 158 pages in the Playtest Rules and additional content for the Monster Guide and character sheets.

  20. I looked at the “DC20” KS. It claims to be an evolution for ttrpgs, but I don’t see anything new. It uses action points and mana points, which seems to be the main “new” things when compared to D&D. Those have been around a while.

It looks crunchier than 5e, which is already too much for my tastes. YMMV, but it’s a pass for me.

They are using the ORC license, so there may be stuff worth hacking out of it.
