On my summer tour with Kingfisher the organizers of one dance told me that their group would tolerate Larks/Robins for role terms, but *preferred* Ladies/Gents. After talking it over with some other callers and dancers and weighing the factors (What will feel best for me? What will be best for the dancers? What will be good for contra dance in general?) I opted to call Larks/Robins.

I just applied for a scholarship to the John C. Campbell Folk School for their traditional dance callers week. Not something I had on my bingo card for this year, but apparently I was recommended for it by someone in the local contra scene and invited to apply, so why not? I've always thought it would be fun to learn to call properly (I've only ever done it at open-mic type dances and workshops)!

People, please - you can't trust the calling number displays anymore.
Scammers just generate random numbers these days, so if you're calling back unknown callers that you "just missed" you're getting people who didn't call you.
You can't convince them that they just called you, cuz they didn't.
Getting lots of these babes-in-the-woods calls lately. "Hello you just called me!?"

Been digging further into the #PhoneScam and #SpamCaller stuff. This week I've been plagued with fake Microsoft callers. Turns out AQL has a website to look up the owner of a number block ([1]). Once again, it's a Voxbone number.
Sadly AQL's API is for customers only; it seems like their main data source is OFCOM [2]. It's a shame they don't seem to provide number porting data - so a number ported from BT will appear as BT.
