CW: (more) domestic abuse
As the Women's Budget Group point out if we are concerned with domestic abuse, we need to move beyond a model of the behaviour that focuses only on physical abuse (however important that also is), to include 'economic abuse', both via the abusers themselves & the institutions that make that economic abuse possible/plausible.
Often one compounds the other, but in the end its always about abuse....
