The irony of an attempted scam ON MY CALENDAR being for a Norton Lifelock renewal.
FYI scams can attempt to scam you via your calendar. There is a spot under your apps permissions to turn off permission for literally anyone on the planet with the skills, to place a scam on your phone.
I was supposed to call, and follow their directions to give away the farm.
I HATE these events. They are traumatizing.

Truecaller's new 'Family Protection' lets you remotely shield up to five relatives from phone scams.
Truecaller has launched 'Family Protection,' allowing one user (the Admin) to manage and set scam-blocking settings for up to five family members. This feature offers a shared safety net, and on Android, the Admin can even receive alerts and remotely end an active scam call to protect vulnerable relatives.

One of the most pathetic scam callers who called the wrong person on the wrong day.
Told me there was an unauthorized access to an online Bank I've never used.
Spent 30 minutes acting like an old man who doesn't know how to use computers before he realized I'm fucking with him.

On Saturday I went Door Dashing and got a call from someone claiming that an offer I just got was done with a fraudulent credit card. So I went through the steps suggested to clear the order.
Immediately afterward, I called Door Dash Support and asked if the previous call was legit. They said yes it was. But just in case, I went and changed my password on my account.
Then when out yesterday, I got called again. Same voice. Different name. Same thing. After it was done, I again went and changed my password. But this time it seemed my account was locked out.
I called Door Dash support and after running through verification they confirmed that my account had been compromised. Presumably by the phone person.
They promised it would all be fixed up and I'd have access to my account again soon.
But I continue to wait to gain access 18h later. I haven't been paid for last week's work. And when I try to login to the Dasher app it claims I've never had an account.
I'm mad at the scammer.
I'm mad at myself.
I'm mad at Door Dash.
It's been a crappy day all ‘round. And yes, I'm writing this down not just as a warning for all of you that scammers will scam and always be suspicious… but also to document it for my own brain (I've got other notes too) in case this gets more ugly.
Sigh. If Doordashers were actual *employees* perhaps this would not be happening.
If you have questions feel free….

Fick ett telefonsamtal precis från Polisen. Suspekt aktivitet på mitt nationella id-kort. De pratade engelska. AI- röst
Jag lade på direkt så klart, men det finns säkert en och annan som blir lurad.

Been digging further into the #PhoneScam and #SpamCaller stuff. This week I've been plagued with fake Microsoft callers. Turns out AQL has a website to look up the owner of a number block ([1]). Once again, it's a Voxbone number.
Sadly AQL's API is for customers only; it seems like their main data source is OFCOM [2]. It's a shame they don't seem to provide number porting data - so a number ported from BT will appear as BT.

One-ring phone scam
You get a call that rings only once and hangs up before you can answer. But you see the number that called. So do you call back?
No, you do not. Calling back costs you money. It's a scam.

I just told the scammer who was going to help me "restore the network protection" on my non-existent Bell internet line that I had to remove it because it was leaking but it was okay because I already had an order of heavy duty condoms on the way to restore protection.
Then we got into other uses for those very same condoms. 😂

*Phone rings*
Bad text to speech generated message: "This is the danish police force. We are calling you about some suspicious activity. There has been issued an arrest warrant for you. Press 1 to talk to a police officer."
(I didn't translate this. They actually thought that the danish police force spoke english and not danish).
*beep*
Guy with heavy indian accent (again, not speaking danish): "This is the danish police force" (because that is totally how danish police greets you on the phone).
Me: "Is this about the bodies in my basement? Because I totally didn't kill them, I swear!"
Guy with heavy indian accent: "Are you stupid?"
*He hangs up*

I had one of those calls.. Ya know the ones you shouldn't answer.. But I answered it.. Dead air, so I listened.. Then a guy comes on and yawns a big yawn, and i said "Hello?" he tried to act like i called him lol, then he asked if I was steven smith (i am not.) and I said yes, what do you want, and he said Fuck off, N*gger! and then hung up.
I'm not sure how that scam is supposed to work, but.. I don't think it was working. lol

Well, we had a bad night before Christmas when #Spoofing attempts auto-dialed our home phone every 4 min from different actual local phone numbers, within blocks from home.
https://halifaxsocial.ca/tags/spoofing Because #Phishing attempts are known, they keep trying new approaches; "grandson needs money to get out of Jail", for example?
What they really need, is for you to pick up..
8pm to 11pm it never stopped on 22nd Dec. Today, the calls started already at 9am this time, from Bahamas. #BeAlert #PhoneScam -
