  1. @owen I don’t find it that bad with . It’s not exactly trivial, but it’s possible. If more things I run — or want to run — had a “step” client or (and not just support for ), it would be much easier.

  2. The good news is that I crimped the pins for my first JST-XH connector. Those pins are tiny!

The bad news is the fan didn’t work when connected. Didn’t spin, produced a fan fault. It’s a replacement for an Eaton rack UPS fan. Not a like for like replacement, but the best match I could find on DigiKey.

Not sure if my work or the fan is at fault.

  3. I would like to thank @rgriff for putting up with Many Questions this week. I may have found a suitable replacement for Divvy.

Not exactly what I wanted, but I’m thinking it will do.

  4. I’ve been managing windows on my Macs with Divvy happily for … a decade? More? It fits my brain.

However, I’m in need of a modern app from a responsive developer that can manage windows in a similar fashion that combines a single keyboard shortcut to activate, and probably a graphical grid to divide up display space, where I use the pointer to select cells. Keyboard control of windows is secondary.

  5. I have a history with USB peripherals that provide Extra Buttons. Besides the El Gato Stream Deck, I have a Shuttle Pro (purchased at MacWorld NYC!) and a Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad n50. Various other USB button-festooned peripherals abound in a box.

I always have grand plans for extra buttons that are dashed against the hard reality of Figuring Out How to Program and Use the Peripheral.

  6. Is there anything like deep linking (appears limited to iOS, Android, UWP) to support custom URL schemes on Mac, Windows, and Linux? Would like to see internal URL scheme/links in Fantasty Grounds. docs.unity3d.com/2020.3/Docume

  7. Is there a way to tell the that I’m using 100% — such as through the kind of power choice options some US states have — rather the default mix provided by the ? I haven’t figured out a way.

  8. I wish @siracusa used a MacBook Pro or trackpad more regularly — rather than a Microsoft Precision Mouse — because I’d ask if the trackpad reacts to Wristies in weird ways. Like activating the scroll bar to scroll up/down repeatedly.

  9. I’m on Team Storage with @ismh as I’m listening to Connected’s “I Like Clock” ep. overcast.fm/+FXx4OZ0qI/58:05

This segment feels like the @tbridge intervention on one of our sessions when I brought up MBP storage prices / limitations and the failings of File Provider / file sync when it comes to expandable storage.

  10. @jamesthomson Apparently they now have some integrations with VTTs and D&D Beyond. ( user on macOS, myself.) Only heard about it after the site was nominated for the Ennie Awards. Seems great for more lightweight online and/or in-person games, especially for a youth game club (since no account is required).

  11. Earnestly waiting for @jsnell to have a and in a future . (Maybe as a guest for @TSindelar.) Would be a stark contrast to a of .

  12. I'm trying to attach a accessory to a through (with the to adapter cable). When I connect it, the shuts off. I also have problems with the same cable and a StemmaQT accessory if I try to run it off a . I feel like I'm .

  13. After updating and and other firmware to the latest on my server, 8.2.1 won’t start any virtual machines. The VMs previously ran just fine. The console now claims, “failed: hvm is required for this operation.” The server CPUs support VT-x and it is enabled in the BIOS.

This is an extremely frustrating experience.
