🍎🪱 Every time I have to use MacOS I am baffled how comically bad its window management is. 🫣

This is some hot tiling compositor! Not only you can swipe apps into boxes, but scroll these boxes around like a sprawling buffet by tapping window decorations.

I never got along with Mac's built in window management shortcuts. I just downloaded a FOSS alternative (IDK why it took me so long) called Rectangle.
https://github.com/rxhanson/Rectangle
It is pretty awesome so far after testing it for 10 min! Made custom shortcuts set and it's working flawlessly.
I have a single monitor setup (Dell U2415) and lately been finding myself trying to get every bit of screen real estate as I can. This should sort me out for now. :)

Oh look, another tiling window manager for macOS! 😴 Because clearly, what #macOS really needs is more terminal-based fiddling for the three users who want to feel like elite hackers while they adjust window sizes. 🖥️✨

I JUST FOUND OUT THAT MS WINDOWS HAS THE SEND-TO-BACK WINDOW MANAGEMENT FEATURE
All this time, I could just press Alt+Esc and my window would be sent to the back! If only I knew this back when I was a Windows user.
What if Windows also has always-on-top? -
I'm experimenting with a new window management setup using Loop and Swift Shift in place of Rectangle Pro. I find the window previews of Loop to be very useful and Swift Shift has more in the way of options than what the equivalent functionality in Rectangle offers.
And hey, they're both open source! 👨💻

I've finally decided to give the MacOS Sequoia window management an honest try so I've been re-creating many of my shortcuts from Rectangle.

As I for various reasons use #macOS sometimes, I've been looking for a good way for #windowmanagement and I have tried several different solutions, Loop is the first one I actually like and it took me about one minute to learn. And it is even #opensource

I’ve been managing windows on my Macs with Divvy happily for … a decade? More? It fits my brain.
However, I’m in need of a modern app from a responsive developer that can manage windows in a similar fashion that combines a single keyboard shortcut to activate, and probably a graphical grid to divide up display space, where I use the pointer to select cells. Keyboard control of windows is secondary.

As an old cranky Linux user, I'm not exactly sure what my opinion on this article are (I've used tiling as well as traditional window managers a lot) but I really appreciate the detail and effort here. It's absolutely fascinating, and I can't wait to see where this goes:

I'm glad that Stage Manager got some attention on the iPad this year, even though I don't use an iPad, because it shows Apple is committed to the feature. I've been using it full-time on macOS since around this time last summer, and at this point I have no plans to go back.

Is there (for now, on Mac) a setup, with which i could use a secondary monitor to pin certain windows / processes? Mainly i need to keep an eye on build status, maybe a slack window, but otherwise i don't need to interact with it really. But i also don't want it to disappear when i tab to different windows.

Switched from RectanglePro to Lasso on my mac; This fits my use case so much better. How did I not discover this app until now!

I have another Mac based tip for you all today! 👨🏼💻🍎
Have you ever struggled with managing multiple windows on your Mac? 🤔
Well, let me introduce you to a game-changing app called Rectangle! 🚀Rectangle is a window management tool for Mac that allows you to easily resize and move windows using keyboard shortcuts or hot spots on your desktop. 🙌
With Rectangle, you can effortlessly arrange your windows side by side, stack them, or even move them to different displays with just a few clicks. 🤩No more wasting time dragging and resizing windows manually! ⏰ For those that have used Window's "Snap Assist" feature before, this will be pretty familiar.
If you're someone who works on multiple applications simultaneously, you need Rectangle in your life! Trust me, it will make your work much more efficient and streamlined. 👍 Check out this short video and let me know your thoughts! 😁
Please #boost to help spread the knowledge and if you like the content I make, feel free to subscribe to the channel.

My #productivity booster of the year 2022:
Switching Windows and #Desktops According to Window Names and Text Search https://karl-voit.at/2022/10/28/window-teleporting/
I'm sure there are DIY-ways for Windows and macOS as well. On #Linux, it was really easy to accomplish - as usual.

This one was tricky. There are a few reasons for that. 1) Trying to make it work across apps. 2) In order to look good you need a pixel between windows. 3) And finally … I only realized that after releasing 1.0 … not everybody autohides the dock like I do.
It works. But there are still some glitches with Safari at times that make no sense to me. It works fine with Swish. So it is either #AppleScript or the method I am using. #WindowManagement #Automation

I kinda really like Stage Manager in concept but #apple need to double down in getting it working for power users. Thing is when you run out of slots on the side (and you hide the dock) then the windows not in a slot are literally invisible. You have to alt-tab or dock to get visibility. #windowmanagement is hard.
