Fedi, I'm at a total loss on how to sort this one out. I've got an Elgato wave: 3 that worked great for 18 months and one day after updates it stopped registering input.
Its odd, it shows up normally in ALSA and pipewire. Volume and mute status work in software and hardware and accurately update when one is changed.
It just won't let me talk into it 😥.

What's your favorite button/dial/function on your Stream Deck? Asking for myself, a noob.
I was going to say pick only one, but then it turned into top three, then started getting on the edge of a MySpace top eight, but in no particular order. It's totally a top eight.

I got so fed up with #elgato's #streamdeck app that I decided to hack my own with #pyobjc, blackjack and... #Copilot. Once I've implemented a couple more things (not sure I need pages, but generating icons from SFSymbol and awareness of foreground app seem useful) I'll put it up on GitHub.

I'm trying to use an Elgato Stream Deck Pedal as a transcription pedal.
But which software – Mac OS, preferably #FLOSS – to use?
(Tried using Whisper to auto-transcribe interview recordings, and it takes about as much time to correct the transcript afterwards as transcribing manually with a good pedal…)

🆕 Novinky od Elgato: Stream Deck v nových formách a pro nové použití
Na veletrhu Computex Elgato představilo iniciativu „Stream Deck Everywhere“, která rozšiřuje možnosti využití Stream Decku i mimo klasická zařízení. Nově nabídne několik variant, které mohou zaujmout techniky, vývojáře i výrobce:🔹 Modulární Stream Decky – dostupné ve variantách s 6, 15 nebo 32 tlačítky, bez loga a v hliníkovém provedení. Určeny pro integraci do vlastních zařízení, pracovních stolů nebo jiných technických řešení.
🔹 Nová mechanika tlačítek – varianta MK.2 s tzv. nůžkovými spínači, které poskytují přesnější odezvu podobnou klávesnici. Vhodné pro rychlejší a jistější ovládání bez nutnosti vizuální kontroly.
🔹 Virtuální Stream Deck (VSD) – softwarová verze pro desktop, která umožňuje zobrazit makrotlačítka přímo na obrazovce počítače. Funguje bez předplatného, aktuálně jako beta pro vybraná zařízení (např. Corsair myši nebo dotykové displeje).
🔹 Síťový dok s PoE – nové příslušenství umožňuje napájení i přenos dat po ethernetu. Tlačítka je tak možné umístit i tam, kde není dostupný USB port. Plánované uvedení: srpen 2025.

A tech question:
I have bought a fancy #Elgato #Facecam , and while its "Camera Hub" software has some basic functionality for camera angle and so forth, it wants me to install #NVIDIA Broadcast if I want to use a custom background for the picture.
Now I want to know... how dodgy is NVIDIA Broadcast as a software? I am leery of installing anything that might end up little more than disguised data mining and whatnot.

#linux wird gerade bei mir an allen Ecken und Enden ein Thema. Nicht, weil ich nicht mit meinen Apple-Geräten zufrieden wäre - ganz im Gegenteil.
Aber für meinen alten #iMac (Mitte 2011, i5 2,7GHz, 24 GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD6770M 512MB, 1TB), denn #OCLP ist schon auf HighSierra und extrem lahm.Ich nutze vor allem

Očekávané #IBC2024 je konečně tady a přináší první novinky! 🎉
Elgato představilo nový Stream Deck Studio, největší verzi svého populárního hardwarového ovladače, který si kromě streamerů našel místo i ve světě profesionální AV techniky.
Jedná se o první Stream Deck navržený speciálně pro profesionální streaming a broadcast prostředí.
Tento model vznikl ve spolupráci s open-source projektem Bitfocus Companion, který značně přispěl k jeho popularitě ve světě AV.
Stream Deck Studio nabízí 32 LCD tlačítek ve dvou řadách a dva otočné enkodéry. Díky své velikosti (19 palců) je ideální pro montáž do studiového racku.
Zařízení lze připojit a napájet přes USB-C nebo RJ-45 s PoE+. K dispozici jsou dva zadní USB-C porty (pro napájení a připojení k počítači), a jeden přední USB-C port pro připojení dalšího zařízení, jako je například Stream Deck XL.
Zajímavostí je také NFC čtečka, která umožňuje lepší zabezpečení pomocí NFC karet/tagů, a také možnost nahrávat vlastní profily na základě NFC karet.
Stream Deck Studio je dostupné od dnešního dne za $899.99, což je při aktuálním kurzu zhruba 20,5 tisíce korun nebo 810 €.
Dále je ale důležité zmínit, že Bitfocus vydává nový software navržený speciálně pro Stream Deck Studio, který je nyní placený. Cena začíná na $9 měsíčně (204 Kč / 8 €) za individuální licenci a software by měl nabízet mnoho výhod oproti základnímu Bitfocus Companion. (Zejména v nastavování vícero jednotek najednou)
Nicméně, podle dostupných informací by mělo být Stream Deck Studio nadále podporováno i v základní, open-source verzi Companion, která zůstává zdarma.
Osobně se na StreamDeck Studio velice těším, i když z nového softwaru, který je navíc placený měsíčně jsem lehce rozpačitý. 🤔
