About OBS not selecting raw BGR format correctly on my Elgato Game Capture 4K X: I've found out that it only has that problem if I plug it in a USB 4 port (directly or indirectly via a dock).

If I plug it in a USB 3.2 gen 1 or 2 port on any device, it works.

Got myself an Elgato Game Capture 4K X and tried it on my Linux machine and it basically works.

One problem I noticed, however, is that when I set the video format to raw BGR in OBS, the format is clearly MJPEG instead when I look at the output (obvious compression and chroma subsampling). Other formats get set correctly.

Using raw BGR works in ffmpeg at least (after rotating it 180° because it's upside down for some reason)

4K/60 gameplay video capture on Linux to be honky dory smooth 🎞️ 😍

It used to be iffy - USB UVC capture devices enumerated wrong (or exposed the wrong modes).

Elgato's popular 4K X card officially only for old world operating systems Windows and macOS so they do not care at all.

Linux community worked on its spectacular own; a bug report was filed for that the card stubbornly fell back to lesser gbps - Johannes Bruederl took it and wrote a fix.

Как я уже писал в своей прошлой статье, дурная голова рукам покоя не даёт. Так что не прошло и месяца после завершения работы над звонком, как руки уже начали чесаться. И занятие им нашлось достаточно быстро... Я пользуюсь MAD CATZ S.T.R.I.K.E. 7, которая всем чудо как хороша, кроме того, что вышла больше 10 лет назад, её производитель обанкротился в 2014 и её софт на Win 11 уже надо ставить с бубном. Все мы смертны, клавиатуры - тем более, так что я стал задумываться над заменой. Но проблема в том, что я привык к россыпи макроклавиш, которые позволяют одним нажатием, не задействуя мозг, переключать ветки гита, исправлять криво введённые команды или вбивать пароли в окошки по 15 раз за день (о боги хаоса, как я "люблю" параноиков-безопасников). А современные клавы имеют в лучшем случае 4-5 макроклавиш (что вдвое меньше, чем нужно), а некоторые ещё и стоят как приватный остров. И тут в унынии я наткнулся на это...

Fedi, I'm at a total loss on how to sort this one out. I've got an Elgato wave: 3 that worked great for 18 months and one day after updates it stopped registering input.

Its odd, it shows up normally in ALSA and pipewire. Volume and mute status work in software and hardware and accurately update when one is changed.

It just won't let me talk into it 😥.

I both hate and love the new #Elgato releases. The hardware has been great, but the software launch was worse than when Sonos remade their software. It crashes multiple times a day. Their subreddit is filled with upset people. Should be all hands on deck to have this fixed. Or call in Claude to figure it out.

After having enough of their desktop app not working, I can now control my #elgato keylight through some #org restclient HTTP calls.

Lights on via cURL wasn't my initial plan for the day, but I'm happy with it.
