  1. Hmm, changed ISP today. I was pretty excited the new one uses a Zyxel modem, but of course it's running a modified firmware version. No insight in what the firewall blocks and allows. Hard to understand why you wouldn't allow customers to block certain ports. Port forwarding does work luckily.

Also no IPv6 support which is weird in this day and age.

Other than that it seems OK. Only a fraction of the price of the previous ISP but still the same speed and using the same fiber cable.

  2. I recently found out there's a podcast about 'Allo 'Allo! by the actors that played Helga, Gruber and Flick. As a fan of the show this is so much fun to listen to! Highly recommend! Check it out at
    helgagruberflick.com/podcast.h

  3. Managed to successfully play a game of online on . Got 3 kills and a suicide, the other two players had about 59-60 kills 😅. Was also able to connect to Bomberman Online but no one was playing. So far I’m unable to make a connection with Propeller Arena.

Getting this thing online isn’t the easiest thing though. Need to restart Dreampi, disconnect the line voltage simulator before I can connect again.

  4. [13/Jul/2026:19:47:27 +0200] "GET / HTTP/1.0" 200 244 "-" "Mozilla/3.0 (DreamPassport/3.15)"

Yay, My is connecting again. But it seems I need to restart everything between every connection and remove the line voltage simulator when booting up the Dreampi. So, Dreampi should be ready first, then connect the line voltage simulator and then connect the Dreamcast.

Not sure yet if this is foolproof, but at least there's some progress.

  5. Mondial Relay is the most terrible shipping company! Now that that’s out of the way: I finally managed to receive my line voltage simulator so my is finally online again! Installed on my old first gen B model , found the required USB modem and bought the line voltage simulator from Dragoncity in France. First try and it worked straight away!

This is so cool to finally be able to play online again with the DC.

  6. Oh for crying out loud! Again fails to sync which in turn results in conflicting files. GAH!

  7. Had some fun playing Armada on the today. It’s basically meets the RPG genre 😋. A bit too grindy to farm experience and credits, but had a good couple of hours of fun with it. Unsure if I’ll continue it because of the grind, but back in the day I would’ve been all over this. Even though it’s a fairly simple game.

  8. So so weird! Using to capture footage from old DV video tapes and all seems to be going well. But using the dv2 format I get clips where audio is sped up with several clips. So I tried dv1, seemed fine, but doesn't take these files. Neither does the mov format. So I tried the raw format and that worked fine. But now there's one clip where audio is pitched down by more than 2 steps. So weird!

  9. Hmm yes I think I should let render on my 64GB instead. VR footage is just too heavy it seems. My 16GB M1 MBP isn’t meant for this haha.

  10. Hmm that's surprising. Used to capture some footage from DV Tapes. There are several formats to choose from. One of them is QuickTime mov. You would've thought could handle that. But apparently the codec DV/DVCPRO is unsupported by both QuickTime and . can't handle it either.

The raw format is being handled just fine.

This is not the first time I find Apple stuff to have zero support for some codecs. Yet and do.

  11. Nice! I was able to use with my card and without any configuration on . I won't be sticking to it because of the short term support, but happy to know that part of my old PC will work just fine under Linux!

Thinking about going with instead because of the longer support cycle. That or .

  12. Thinking about repurposing my old . It’s an i7-3770 with 32GB of DDR3 800 MHz RAM (though CPU-Z reports 672.5 MHz?). Intel HD graphics 4000, my GTX 950 died. Currently running but should wipe it and run a distro. Oh, it has a card for DV capture. It’s important that keeps functioning.

I wonder if adding a “new” dedicated GPU would still be worth it?

It also doesn’t help I don’t know yet what to do with it. I have my for video, photo and music…

  13. Anyone have experience in using or as an alternative to plain old ?

At work this seems to be the direction they want to go. Us developers (a team of two) just want decent Git hosting with an issue tracker like on GitHub where it’s actually easy to refer to and discuss code. Also to do code reviews.

Is Azure DevOps actually suitable for that? And if so how does it compare in complexity/ease of use? Never heard of it myself until now.

  14. Wasn't able to get to work so moved everything to a now working instance.

  15. I mainly bought it to be able to digitise my tapes (again). But also because it's fun (if it works). The battery that came with it was dead, so bought a two pack. Was surprised these are still widely available (did get a 3rd party brand which I normally don't do with batteries).

The camera came with 4 NEW tapes as well which was quite the surprise. In some ways the camera is brand new. At least some of its accessories (like the included SD card).

  16. This is quite something. It feels more modern than the old broken one we had, but that one had more features (like a builtin light!). Sadly it doesn't have a microphone input. It does however advertise to have "megapixels" 😄. Which is actually about 1.3MP haha. A 16MB SD card was included for photo's. It can even record a ten second clip in 320x240 to the SD card, or 160x120 even!

No clue why they would include that though.

  17. Good grief is finicky! Not sure if it's actually the being troublesome or just the FireWire interface on . I takes several reconnects and reboots (of both camera and computer) for the camera to be properly recognised by the OS.

And even during import I've already had a data connection loss. The FireWire cable is brand new, but the Thunderbolt 3 -> Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt 2 -> FireWire adapters aren't. So...

  18. Thought I'd try checking out using their example (zitadel.com/docs/self-hosting/)

Sadly, it simply doesn't work. Context errors, not being able to get a session. 😞

  19. Gotta love these companies that tie their support e-mail to some online ticket system. Just replied to an e-mail and got a response that I was replying to an archived conversation and that I should go through all their required hoops again to start a new conversation. Sod off, why do these companies make customer support such a hell.

    Screw .

  20. Aw bollocks! I found a Thunderbolt 2 to FireWire adapter very very cheap, so got the matching cable and the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 cable. Everything connected, the Mac recognises the FireWire interface, so far so good.

Sadly, the old JVC Mini DV Camera we used back in the day doesn't function properly anymore. I knew the FireWire interface was probably botched as I couldn't get it to work under Windows. But on top of that the thing is blind.

  21. Think I'll be trying sometime soon. My 22 is aging and stuff seems to be breaking down. For example, when importing I want to exclude video files, but the filter options don't even work anymore :blobcatdunno:. Very weird.

Anyway, DxO communicates an Essential and an Elite version of Photolab and at dxo.com/dxo-photolab/whats-new they even have a comparison. At support.dxo.com/hc/en-us/artic they mention Essential as well.

Yet, when buying you can't choose between them? Confusing.

  22. I’m flabbergasted. I’ve been using for over a decade now I think to generate my PDF’s. Always without issue. But since some months the footers in my PDF’s would not show anymore. After a couple of renderings it would work again. But now it simply won’t anymore.

Nothing has changed in the styling of my HTML. Remove styling? It shows up. Remove the header? It shows up. Remove the image from the header? Locally the footer shows, remotely it doesn’t. It’s the same Docker container!

  23. Up until 4 years ago or something (or ) was my code editor of choice. But when having to work with I preferred , which has become my main editor.

With Vim I could never get IntelliSense to work properly so I dropped that.

Currently want to look into working with (Mac)Vim again. But my are sorely outdated (8-12 years or so!). Time for a fresh start. Used to copy plugin's etc. to my vimfiles, but is there a better way these days to also stay up-to-date?
