It has an issue where when I turn it on, the cassette bay pops open, the spool(?) turns, and a counter is counting downwards in the display, before it automatically powers off. Aw bollocks! I found a Thunderbolt 2 to FireWire adapter very very cheap, so got the matching cable and the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 cable. Everything connected, the Mac recognises the FireWire interface, so far so good.

Sadly, the old JVC Mini DV Camera we used back in the day doesn't function properly anymore. I knew the FireWire interface was probably botched as I couldn't get it to work under Windows. But on top of that the thing is blind.

Got a new charger for this old Hi8 #camcorder I've had since I was a teenager, I really doubt the battery will still hold a charge but I'm gonna try it first before I look into getting a replacement battery too. With the adapter it will turn on however, which is promising. I've got 4 60 minute tapes and really want to record a bunch of random footage to make into a collage I edit the old way with a #VCR and blank #VHS tape.
